Greddy Type S or HKS BOV?

I have a 90 TSi AWD and right now it is mostly stock except for the 3" turbo- back exhaust. I was wondering which BOV to switch to, Greddy or HKS? I've looked into them both a little but half the people I talk to say Greddy, the others HKS. Right now I'm venting to the atmosphere and I know thats not great to do, but I love the sound(going to route back to intake tomorrow as it drives poorly). Anyway, any suggestions from the pros out there on which BOV to go with?(I'm only 17 and money is kinda tight, but luckly it goes right into my car .

IMO the greddy sounds the best recirc. and is crazy loud vented.

A trouble free BOV would be the HKS/Tial. If you want problems in the future, buy the Greedy, TurboXS.

Hks soloved my idle problems, boost creep, and I ran it vented perfectly fine...

and it sounds so extremly P.I.M.P.

HKS if you want your car to act up and run poorly. Sence your going to reroute your bov back to the intake go with the GReddy.

I had a HKS on my car at first and I would always stall out.......and im A/T. You wont be dissapointed with the GReddy.

That's what I was thinking. I have a GReddy BOV, and it's great! I've heard numorous problems with the HKS on a DSM. Some shops that sell them will recomend that you don't even buy one. Greddy sucks! Riiight... Oh, and for the record: I'm not saying the HKS BOV is bad.

Ive had an HKS for about a year and its perfectly fine.Loud even with the recirculation kit.The downside is the HKS is a PITA to put on your stock Upper IC pipe,and also if you do plan on getting a Front Mount in the future its alot easier to buy the greddy type s along with the greddy piping and greddy core,where as with the HKS you'll have to get an upper IC pipe seperately flanged for it

He means when you re-circulate the Greddy back into the intake pipe, it still sounds good; however, it is even louder when you vent it into the atmosphere.

Ok, so the majority of you would go with the GReddy and not the HKS due to so called problems, correct? So I venture to guess that they both sound the same but you pay less for the GReddy then the HKS and you also dont run into problems? Sounds like I'm goin with the GReddy

People say the GReddy Type-S diaphram goes out over time. However, the cases are far and few between. The only problem you may encounter with the Type-S, is if you upgrade to a large turbo down the road and run some serious boost as the Type-S seems to hold well until around 22-24psi. Of all the BOV's I have heard, this one is the loudest BOV when recirculated.

HKS is a great performance BOV. The push/pull design valve is virtually leak proof and is a great BOV to vent, even for those who choose to do so with the stock MAS. The super sequential has been proven to hold some serious boost pressure. This is the loudest BOV vented next to the Tial BOV.

I had both of them and was happy with both of them. When I am in the market for one again, and if I were nailed down to these two again, I would choose the HKS SSQV. Both BOV's are great choices. I guess you'll need to evaluate your goals, then choose which is best for you.

i have a hks vented and no problems here. buddy of mine had the greddy and it broke on him in a year. he now has a tial.
