I started digging in my 95 Talon, and I'm noticing some aftermarket parts. The BOV is an HKS sequential model. Are these any good or should I look at replacing it?
Thanks,

Jofus

If its the real thing with "HKS" on it, you are golden. Very solid BOV.

Is it recirculated like it should be for your ECU setup?

Love my HKS. The one only, only thing that I hate about it is putting it on. when past that your good.

Got the HKS SSQV for about 2 years now and I have never heard it flutters.

The HKS is a good blow off valve that does not leak. The only other option I would consider is a Tial...which I have recently changed to

That is some great news! I'm just getting into DSMs, and back into cars really so I wasn't sure. It will be recirculating, it blows my mind that people vent to the atmosphere, but I guess thats their choice. Unfortunaltey, the kid that had it before me blew the engine, he had changed the oil and forgot to put the drain plug back in. So he was doing like 90 and it siezed. The body is great and so is the interior, and I got it for a song. I'll be pulling the engine in a few days...I'm gonna go thru it and see what is salvagable, then put humpty back together again. This forum is great, I was amazed at the wealth of info out here and the great folks/advice that comes with it!
Thanks!

newbie question... does anyone know if the hks bov can work with the greddy hard pipe kit? Or what are my options with the greddy hard pipe kit? Only greddy bov's? Thanks

I believe that dsmparts and dejon sell that adapter from greddy to hks bov

No, they sell an adapter that converts a 1g flange to HKS & this is what I run. Because the 1g flange is longer then the greddy, you can't adapt the 1g to HKS adapter to the Greddy flange. Your best option is to cut off the Greddy flange & weld on an HKS or can also swap pipes. On a side note, it is possible to go the opposite direction, from a 1g flange to a Greddy BOV. Just rotate the valve slightly & drill new holes.

Oh! I don't recall it has been some time now. I was planning on going that way.

Are you set on the GReddy kit? Dejon makes some awesome pipes and you can get them flanged for HKS from the start.

Yes why don't you just buy the dejon tool/ powerhouse pipes and call it a day

The HKS unit is nice, but kind of pricey for what you get. Of course when the name is HKS, Greddy, or Blitz, prepare to pay.

Because Dejon is garbage. The piping is fairly thick and the flanges are thin. Maybe it's just me..but something doesn't add up there. If you want a nice kit I would go with an www.FFTEC.com kit. I run one on my car and it has taken me into the 10's and fits great.

And to the guy that said the HKS is pricey, it's averaged price for a quality BOV. The Tial is around the same price

Just watch out if you use the 1g to hks bov adapter that dejon or other vendors sell. If you are using it on upper ic pipes that route to stock smic location. (2g guys). it might make the bov sit too high that the hood might not close properly.

There is no greddy to hks flange I believe, but I think someone stated you can just get the 1g to hks, and modify the 1g side to match with the greddy holes.

Unless you find a real good deal, it would be much better to have the right flange welded on. The adapter I have is actually made by HKS, but I got it for $5... LOL. Plus, it gives me the option to easily switch back to a 1g BOV
