just put on a hks bov venting to atmosphere on and it doesn't sound like its opening up, like even at very small boost i can hear what sounds like compressor surge, is there any fix or way to know if it is compressor surge or is that just the way the hks sounds? its like a very loud flutter noise and i don't know if i should be worried or not.

Sounds like surge. Make sure your vacuum line from the BOV is routed to the intake manifold properly. Im not sure how these HKS BOVs are but you might have the wrong spring in it. How much vacuum are you pulling at idle?

Adjust the screw out (left) to "loosen" the spring. Do this in 1/4 turns until it goes away then 1/8 turn back in (right) You should be solid. You also want to know max vacuum by decelerating from high RPM in low gear (I like 2nd). You'll probably see somewhere near 25 Inch of Mercury (in/Hg).
