This is the second time this has happened. I start the car and drive for about 5 minutes and the loud whistle of my HKS bov gets suddenly about 90% quieter. I took the car to my local speed shop and they said they found nothing wrong. I guess they didn't know what it used to sound like because I left and it was the same quietness as before. So I dropped the clutch at 5000 rpm and went through 3 gears. All of the sudden, it's fine. WTF

Recently, the same thing happened and it's pissing me off. What could be the problem? There are no broken or cracked vacuum hoses and the bov still blows, but the whistle is gone, then it comes back. Is this just a temporary hiccup in the system or a big problem. Please help!:dsm:

it wont be that loud just revving it. mine only builds like 5psi when not under a load. do you have the ssqv bov?

im pretty sure its a pull type bov. try spaying some wd-40 or something in it. it could be sticking and the vacuum is not strong enough to open it.

may need to take it apart and clean it up....use brake cleaner....oil and dust prob got in there and its cloging things up

brake cleaner might be a little to harsh on the orings and may discolor the finish. but if you do take it apart warm soapy water should do the trick.

Hey guys. I pulled the bov off and took a closer look. The gasket sealing the front off the piston was off-center causing (for lack of a better word) blow-by. I moved the gasket to the correct position, tightened the piston via the bolt in the back, and took it for a drive. It was whistling like it used to, but at too high of psi. I loosened the bolt for easier pressure release and it's just like normal!

Thanks for your help! Problem solved!!! :thumb:
