Hey guys, my transmision is kinda funny. In 1st gear it makes a high pitched whining noise like the it has really low set gears or something but I know that's not the case. It sounds almost identical to the whining noise when traveling in reverse and gets a little quieter throughout the gears. By 4th and 5th you really can't hear it. Three of of my buddies have 2GAWD's and none of theirs does it. Could it be a fluid issue? The sound seems like its coming almost from the middle of the car. I heard that the early 2G AWD's (95's and 96's) had a recall on the transfer cases or is that only on the talons because I went to the dealership and they didn't see anything on it. If anyone does know that their is a recall on it do you know of a place that says so that I could show the dealership? Any help is appreciated guys, thanks.

I guess it should just be obviouse then (3 days since first post).

I have an AWD also and it wines (not really loud but certainly noticable) in first gear. I believe that is common. There is a recall on AWD DSM's for the transfer case. It is important that you get the recall done because it may lock up on you. :dsm:

I took my car to the dealership but they said they didn't see anything about it. Does anyone have a link to a good page that a dealership would see as valid information?
