I have no idea how to explain this, but I'll give it my best shot.

At stopped to mid speeds (0-65mph) my car makes a high pitched whining noise. Its very noticable, but I can't tell where its coming from. It changed pitch with speeds also...so when I stop, the noise goes away, and when I accelerate, the noise comes back and gets higher pitch with high speeds. The best analogy I can think of is a tornado siren winding down, when I slow the car down. when I accelerate hard, the turbo spool noise downs out the noise, but when its not spooling, I can hear the noise quite distinctly.

I am very very perplexed what the hell could be causing this noise. I thought maybe its the brake pad squealer bar thingy letting me know my pads are wearing down or something, but my pads are fine. The only reason I though that is cause the noise changes depending on speeds. Any help or suggestion what to check would be VERY much appreciated.

Thank you!

first thing i would do is get some belt dressing and spray your belts, if it goes away then look into getting a new set or tightening them. check your power steering fluid too. if its not those then it could be a multitude of things.

The belts thing *might* be it, I should also let you know that my PS pump leaks all over the place...leaks onto the ps belt, alt belt, alternator itself, timing and balance belt.

[edit] the noise goes away at idle tho. clutch in, rev the engine, no whining noise, clutch out, rev the engine, no whining.....only when moving.

i had the exact same problem, i checked my PW steering fluid and it was empty, filler it up and now it runs fine. No more noise....fix the cheapest things first, then work your way up.

Nah its not the head unit, I know what engine noise sounds like when you run all the wires in parallel on the same side of the vehicle, and its not that....its defiently coming from under the hood. and I do still get the noise when PS fuild is full....thanks for the input
