Hi everyone, names Kyle, living in Dayton, Ohio right now.

Just got my first DSM, 99' Eclipse GST. previous owner got it from florida, so it's pretty clean from what i can see.

I'm a total noob when it comes to cars and an even worse noob when it comes to DSM's, I started getting into cars just recently. I'm really fascinated by cars and how they work, and eager to learn more.

the guy i bought the car off of told me about this site and I've been doing lots of reading and learning a whole lot.

I look forward to learning more and talking with you all.

Looks like you're off to a good start. You're at least capable of a coherent post, which is more than I can say for most new members these days. Welcome to the site.

We all started somewhere. What little I know has all been mostly self taught as well.

The search button at the top of the page is your gateway to vast DSM knowledge, use it well.

Welcome, if your looking to learn this is the perfect place for information. This website really is designed with the user in mind, if you actually use the tools this website provides you will at least understand DSMs in no time.:hellyeah:

Welcome to the site.

Remember this Mantra when it comes to EVERY CAR.

1.) Maintenence
2.) Repairs
3.) Supporting mods
4.) Mods in proper Order.

Doing Maintenance will find things that need fixed or replaced, as well give you an idea of where to start. Doing repairs you can upgrade small parts and prepare for later upgrades as needed. Supporting mods will help your factory parts work better, as well as find other things that need fixed and replaced along the way, and follow that up with the mods in the proper order.

ALWAYS start at 1 when you want to do something. Cause replacing a $600 turbo because you're too lazy to fix a boost leak is expensive.

Though, Look into making a Boost Leak Tester. And get simple tools. :)

Look into making a Boost Leak Tester.

Thanks for the tips!

I've look into the boost leak tester, and I'll probably make one this weekend. Or at least buy the materials. I saw the vfaq on putting one together, seems simple enough. However i wasn't able to find anything a visual guide on where/how to hook it up. and perform the test.

The vfaq mentioned says to disconnect the intake pipe from the turbo inlet, and attach the tester there. But i'm not 100% on what that looks like and don't want to screw anything up. pics would be very helpful.

thanks in advanced for any input/help guys!

Welcome. You made a good choice. With the help of the internet there's nothing you cant learn with a little research
