so i got myself a remote start/alarm system over a year ago and just decided to install in now. I got my wiring diagrams for the clutch switch bypass and door lock diagrams but it's giving me multiple drawings based on the type of system so if I could just get a hand with which type of electrical circuit my car has that would be great.

98 eagle talon ESi.

for the door lock diagrams it can either be a negative system or a positive system.

for the clutch switch bypass, it's either a default system, open system, negative system, or a positive or direct feed system.

thanks.

perfect. thanks.

one more thing. it says my doorpins must be diode isloated? so the wire i splice into going to the doorpin needs a diode on it?

nvm. figured it out. need to wire my doorpins with a relay....should be an interesting install. haha. instructions aren't very good....but i guess they'll have to do.

well i got the wiring diagrams off the internet for it and it's showing a relay installed on both the unlock and lock circuits. ill scan it and upload a pic.

EIDT:

okay, i got it figured out now. my doorpin is wired directly to my remote start unit. these are for the unlock and lock wires only. here's the wiring diagram it's showing for my unlock, lock.

This information might be too late for you, but it might help someone else, so here it is:

You don't need to use relays on the door lock/unlock circuits unless they pull a LOT of current. Typically, only the door lock/unlock motors require relays. Most remote start alarms have either switching polarity (positive lock is also negative unlock, and vice-verse) or dedicated negative outputs (in the case of the newer DEI platforms). I haven't run into any with a dedicated positive output yet.

You can tap directly into the door lock/unlock wiring and your door locks will function just fine. The diagram you posted for negative door locks shows the relays being triggered with the negative lock/unlock outputs of the remote start/alarm anyway. So you might as well avoid the extra and unnecessary work.

As for diode isolating your door triggers, it's not necessary on a DSM. Diode isolation on door triggers is primarily for vehicles with independent door identification, typically found on more recently manufactured vehicles. An easy solution, use the dome light circuit. They can either be positive or negative so make sure you test first and then use the proper input on your remote start/alarm.

I hope this was helpful!
