Well, I ordered new springs and new shocks. Eibach prokit and tokico blues to be exact. I need to order a few oem parts for the shocks. I have a diagram below. Basically, the metal sleeve that holds the shock mount bushings together seized to my stock shock. So please help me make sure I have got everything.

So far I have 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,11,12, and 13. Basically my question is do I need #3 and #5 ( the cup and the dust cover)?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

yeah it will make the top of the shock shoot through #9

The top of the shock is suppose to go through #9. From what I have seen the cup (#5) is only there to hold the dust cover (#3) over the shock. Im not 100% sure though, which is why I ask.

But I dont think it is there to keep the shock rod from going through the top mount, because it is supposed to.....

Anybody else have some info on this subject?

you don't "need" the cup or the dust boot. the cup is basically there to hold the dust boot in place. the thing that keeps the rod from shooting through is the metal sleeve (3*) and the large flat washer that goes on top of the bushing (#12)

You need the cup or replace them with washers.

The washer #12 is on top of the strut mount, it keeps the strut from pulling through when the suspension drops.

For the cost of the parts, is it worth having to do the job twice/ screw something up? And also I have done a suspension swap and left out number 5. It WILL cause problems, usually after your very first bump. Thankfully it was a rear and it poped the access panel off. If it was a front I am sure it would have pierced thru the hood.

Im still unsure how it keeps the shocks from popping through the access panel, but if everybody insist....I will order them as well.

You NEED the cup #5. If you look at your shock you will see a little lip. The cup sits against that. then the rubber bushing and spring cap sit on that. With out it the shock rod will go right through the top of the spring cap (and possibly through the access cover in the rear plastics) There would be nothing to stop it. Trust me I watched someone throw these caps away and have these same problems. ( I dug them out of the garbage and waited while he tried to figure it out for an hour and gave them back to him and say, try putting these on) I guess you could also use a washer but finding the right size may prove difficult. You could even cut the top of your old shock off to get your caps off and reuse them.

Also the dust boot is nice to have to keep from getting crap on the shock rod.

Alright, When I took my stock shocks out the first time, the metal sleeve had basically seized to the shock so I couldnt see a lip on it. I dont think I can get my cup off at this point and I figure if I already have eibach springs and tokico shocks, I might as well get everything else new also.

Thanks for all the help...

Yea, its worth spending a few extra bucks. I've replaced all those parts as well and put some anti seize on shock and inside the sleeve incase things have to come back apart. Once you put it all together you'll understand. If you just mock it up with out the cap you'll see how the shock can go right through everything. The lip catches the cup and retains everything.
Good luck with the set up!

Cool...

It sucks having to replace everything but I figure its gonna be down for something, I might as well do everything.

Once again, Thanks everybody for all the help!
