Okay guys, I've searched this alot.....

My awd howls/growls/wub-wub when the car is in gear and decelling. When I put it in neutral and coast it goes away.

The noise is definitely coming from the rear.

What would be the first thing I should try and fix?? What do I need to look for if I have excess drive train play.

Anyone who had this problem ever fix it, or at least quited it down??

Thanks for the space:thumb:

Do you have an aluminum flywheel by chance? There are many cases of the clutch/aluminum flywheel combo not being balanced and causing vibrations. The telltale sign is it only happens on decel. Sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the rear.

If your rear diff has sufficient oil and the driveshaft isn't flopping around on worn #-joints that's probably the culprit.

I'm glad you posted this because I have the exact same thing, I just wasn't sure how to describe it. I thought it was the exhaust rubbing on the driveshaft but "4pistons" replied, I also have an aluminum flywheel so there is a good chance that is what it is.

After I got my SBR3500, my car's been doing that...and I have a Fidanza flywheel.

Can it cause any problems if it isn't fixed?

I don't have an aluminum flywheel......

I was wondering if anyone had ever fixed this?? I've read about a pinion bearing, but never read about anyone that actually changed it and if it made a difference:cry:

Also: Would dynomatting the rear interior help quite it down?? Just a thought.

My car started doing the same exact thing after i installed a sbr 3500 and a act flywheel. I dont think thats whats causeing it. What i think caused it is when i did the clutch i let the drive shaft hang down to the ground after pulling the transfer case off. It sat like that for a week. I think the fact of me letting it hang there stressed the Ujoints and the carrier bearings. Im going to rebuild the drive shaft(new carrier bearings and ujoints) and see if that fixes it. Maybe you guys did the same thing as me and let the drive shaft hang down and thats whats causeing the problem?
