I'm getting my car tuned in less than 2 months, and i would like to get my o2 housing ported and get a brand new exhaust manifold (ported). My question is if I get these ported after the tuning, will it knock the tuning off? i'm trying to see if i need to get this done before tuning. Also, i have an evo III turbo.....would all "evo" manifolds fit that? and do they come ported.....like than the stock 2g manifold?

What you refer to as "evo"" manifolds is called a mitsubishi style manifold. Yes, you should get the port-work before tuning, as it makes a shift in your powerband, so you could be losing out on 4-5 horsepower (I know thats not much, but every little bit helps) because you missed it. But it shouild not make your car run like crap.

For manifolds, get either a stock 2g ported, evo 3, or a nice sbr cast. I do not like tubular because they require so much bracing and break so much.

If money isn't an issue you could always get a bigger manifold than whats on your car now and have it ported. But the best bang for the buck would be to port the manifold off your car. Either way i would do it before going to get tuned.

money is not an issue right now. I was looking at the slowboyracing website and i do really like the sbr cast exhaust mani. Now, that will fit my evo III turbo? and when it says 7cm gasket that it comes with.....that's the exhaust manifold-to-turbo gasket correct? (this website): http://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=588

Yes the slowboy manifold will match up just fine to an evo3. And when they say a 7cm gasket they are speaking of the manifold to turbo gasket. I personally wouldn't spend my money on that manifold but thats more of my personal bad experiences with said vendor. It has gotten good reviews as i've seen so far but, you could spend that money else where and probably get a better return but that's up to you.

Quick question for you. In the pic of your front bumber/FMIC, is that the SMIC peeking out i see there?

hahaha, good eye! Yeah i put the fmic in which was a major hassle, but it was not hooked up because I did not have pipes made for it yet. So I drove to the "pipe-maker" if you will and he hooked up my fmic. After that I took out the smic. That pic is from like 4 months ago. haha.............as for the manifold, sorry............which ported manifold would you prefer?.......I forgot to add that my stock 2g manifold has a slight hairline crack in it

Well you could easily just get your manifold welded on the crack and it'd be good to go. The SBR manifold by all accounts i've heard is a nice piece. Only compliants i've heard are of the first run that was cracking. If you wanna spend 300 bux on go right ahead. But you could get yours welded up and ported for under 100 i'm sure. If you can do it yourself then under 20 for the bits and a couple hours of your time max.

If your gonna get one then go get the biggest you can. I won't tell you to spend money somewhere i won't but you see where i'm going. But i feel that you could take the 200-300 you save and get something else. Say water injection, or save alitte more to get cams. You'll notice much bigger improvements from those than a new exhaust manifold. Of course i'm generally on a budget so of course this is how i look at it. Like i said it's up to you this is just my personal opinion.
