Im using a calan V2 catch can. two -10AN inlets from the valve cover (no pcv) and one -10AN outlet to the exhaust (using the venturi effect). After running the car, I will empty the catch can and i'm getting what looks/smells like a combination of water/gas.

It appears mainly to be condensed exhaust gas with a HINT of gas. I'm looking to find out if this is normal for running a catch can setup this way.

My thinking leads me to believe that its simply exhaust vapors working its way up through the outlet line into the catch can.

Note: For those that dont know, the venturi effect utilizes a fitting at a 45 degree angle somewhere in the exhaust system and lets rushing air pass by to pull the air from the line. It's basically the same as having the outlet on your catch can running to your turbo intake pipe, except its using the exhaust instead.

Note: I have a sight glass on the front of the can and it fogs up/appears to have condensation on it every time i run the car

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I cannot remember exactly, as it's been a while (and it's late), but I read an article about running your vacuum source this way, and it was concluded that it was best to use the intake pipe instead.

My thinking leads me to believe that its simply exhaust vapors working its way up through the outlet line into the catch can.

This possibly being one of the reasons, and another being that it is metered air circulating though your breather.

Not 100% sure on this, but I wanted to chime in just incase. Try reading up on your method vs. clean air method

Only thing is, I'm running on pump gas and it was in the 60s when I drove it last and found the fluid.

My fluid is clear like water and has a hint of gas smell. So this appears to be normal then?

Yeah, it's still normal. Cold weather and E85 just make it worse. Are you catching any oil?

No I haven't been able to get on it in its condition. Car still needs to be tuned and I've been having oil in my runners issue (which is a different situation, possible bad valve stem seals but I think I fixed that, still workin on it).
No oil in it yet just cause I haven't been getting on it at all
