Ok so I just bought a first gen eclipse.lets just say I got screwed LOL. Any way my block has a crank I bought a second gen eclipse block today. There is a crank position sensor plain as day on the second gen well I'm mating a first gen head on this block so does the first gen harness have this sensor cause I never unpluged one spool wtf do I do do I block it off keep it unpluged I am so confused ore sure it will run without this plugged in considering my original didn't and is there anything I need to get special to mate the two together

The first gen and second gen motors have completely different crankshaft position sensors. If you have a 1st gen car nd harness and your using ## 1st gen head just use that one and don't worry about the one on the block you can just leave it alone.

Talking about the crank ok so can I just remove the sensor or just leave it sit. I'm worried that its going to get caught in the timing belt and yes I'm running a first gen head so I can just run the cam sensor because these blocks are almost identical its so weird I mean other than upgraded lines like oil and coolant I think I'm going to run steel braided lines looks a lot better and I can remove the crappy clamp type things holding them in

You need to have crank signal to ecm. You can't just disconnect that sensor.

I didnt know the 1g had a crank sensor. The 2g yes but im pretty sure the 1g gets both its signals from the cam sensor on a 1g.

Oh and a 2g motor will not mount into a 1g. The block does NOT have the mounting points as a 1g. The 2g has mounts on the trans not the block.

This has been beaten to death many times. SEARCH

There are two types of 1g sensor. one with a pigtail coming from the bottom , the later ones came with a connector with a metal clip out the top.

Ok well next prov how the heck do I mount the engine then:banghead:
2G blocks do not have the front and rear roll stop mount provision on them. You can use a 1G engine in a 2G, but not the other way around.

Worst-case scenario...find a good non-turbo 1G engine in the junkyard and use the block and crank from the non-turbo engine on your turbo car. You definitely need a 1G engine, though.

Being a '93, does your car still have the factory-installed 7-bolt or did someone swap it to a 6-bolt?

The OPs post was almost 2 years ago, I hope he already got it figured out by now.

There are actually 3 , The Black top, the Green top, and the Green top with the pigtail. The Black top is the preferred CAS but any of them will work.

Is there any difference with the two types of 1 gen cam, crank sensor

Any of them will work but the Black top is the preferred CAS
