I went to coximport and i was looking at some different applications for my 90 gst, i see that the round disc, not the six or four puck, i don't know what the name is seems to be more expensive than the pucked ones (6,4). The pucked discs seem to hold a bit more torque but they're said to engage harsher? Well im having doubts i want something that engages smooth but holds around 400 ft/lbs of torque and i know that the 2100 hundred won't hold this so what do you guys recommend? The difference in pedal effort seems to be a lot higher for the full disc than the pucked ones, so why the full disc, more expensive, higher pedal effort and less torque capacity what's up with this? What's the good side of this disc? Thanks

I don't know how what we call 2100 or 2600 correlates with ACTs numbers but this one: MB1-XTSS holds 400 and it is not a puck. That includes a pressure plate though.

Pressure plates can be important too. The same disc with one pp can be 322, with another pp it goes up to 400.

Puck ones basically don't have any springs to allow a give for smooth engagement. So engagement=pedal effort then puck clutches are very harsh. They are engaged or not engaged.

Think of it this way: The more surface area (non puck clutch) the smoother the engagement, the lower the torque. The less surface area (4 puck being the most extreme), the harsher more ungodly the engagement, the higher the torque. Cost isn't as proportionate as you would think.

I would go with that MB1XTSS (depending on if I guessed your car right when browsing) and that should keep the engagement somewhat human but still be capable of rocking your world.

Just go the advanceclutch.com and see what you like, then find a dealer with that same product for the price you like. I went with buschar and was happy. Consider too, a lightened flywheel.

There are people that know more than me on this topic, but I hate it when nobody replies to my posts, so I thought I'd give you something to read.

Thanks a lot all this info was really helpfull, i'll look into those reference numbers you gave me.

No prob, glad it hopefully helped.

For what it's worth, I got the HDSS kit (heavy duty pp and performance street disc) and I believe that is the 2100 (it has been forever since I thought about these numbers) and it is great. So I don't know what your goals are with your ride, but either the 2100 or 2600 should be enough unless you plan on trailering it only to races. I want to say the 2100 is the same disc as the 2600 but with the heavy duty pp rather than the extreme pp.

OK, i'm done now.

THanks for the confirmation. It is one of those things that you obsessively research at the time and then forget later. I treat my brain like a computer-save memory by forgetting that which you do not need in the immedate future. :thumb:

Thanks, i think im going with the 2100, my car is pretty old and well im afraid that the 2600 is going to be a bit harsh on my hydraulic system and on the car, and i think the 2100 holds about 322 lbs of torque(correct me if im wrong) when and if i get there im sure i'll have more time to decide wether i wanna go higher and start upgrading my drivetrain and else. Thanks
