hello i bought a 4g63t that came off of an evo 3 a while ago had it installed everything hooked right up just changed the accesories. when i went to crank it it started up but shut off 10 seconds after. i asked around and people told me that the engine wasnt getting signal to the pcm. do i need to find an evo 3 ecu or can i use my eprom ecu.? please help. also where can i get one. i heard that i can use a standalone but i dont have that kind of money. if anyone can help me i would appreciate it.

How did you hook up your cam and crank position sensors? You have a 95 talon so it has them on the cam gear side. Doesn't the evo 3 have the cas like the older eclipses?

Hmm, all the evo 3s are 7 bolts I do believe but just to make sure, you do have a cam and crank angle sensor right? Is your cam angle sensor on the driver's or passenger's side of the car? If you have it on the passenger side, you might run into an issue with the 95 ecu.

If it is underneath the intake cam's cam gear then its the right one for your car.

it didnt have a cam angel sensor on the drivers side like my old engine. i installed the one from my old 4g63t and plugged it in. the evo engine hes the CAS on the passengers side i also swapped the cam gears

I would double check your your connections. Make sure you got everything connected.

Check the 100amp Engine fuse as well. You could have blown that. If all your fuses and connections look good the next step would be check engine codes.

No codes? Look for spark, then fuel. If you have both spark and fuel, then try switching your plug wires around. I've allways run 4-1-2-3. But I have heard of some people having a similar issue and was just that the plug wires were swapped.

If your getting spark, your getting fuel, your compression is good, and your not throwing any codes, suspect the ecu.

it has spark, fuel and compession. the 100 amp fuse might be the problem. the fuse is good but the wire that goes to it is burned. would i have to get a whole new harness?

no i have no clue when it burned. but ive tried everything people have told me and still havent been able to get it running right. so ill be selling the engine pretty soon. if any of u are interested let me know.

So you are going to sell that engine and get another? Did you install the crank sensor also right? This engine is pretty much the same exact thing that came in your car, it isn't because it is not compatible, just something that you are not doing right. FIND out why the wire melted. There is an electrical problem somewhere that caused that.

but my old engine was running fine before i pulled it. it just had a spun bearing but still ran. just no power. so the evo sould run just dropping it in. rite

If you have everything hooked up as it was before than it will run just fine. There is nothing else to it. There isn't some random thing that is different that would make the new one not run. It is the same engine other than the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo, o2 housing, injectors and a few other little things. You did install your old injectors right? Everything is interchangeable between the 2.

Also you did swap over the crank sensor and crank sensor trigger plate also right? The evoIII uses a 1g style cam sensor so there is no cranks sensor.

no its still got the evo yellow injectors. but some people were saying stuff about changing the order of the spark plug wires. and some other stuff. hey if i have an auto trans and i put in a manual trans engine will it run with the auto wiring harness

You need to put the 450's from your old engine in there. You don't have to swap any plug wires or injector wires because you should be using the cam and crank sensors from the car just as you unbolted it from your old engine. There is nothing random that you have to do extra to make it work. This is the same as bolting in an engine that came from the same year car that you have. You just have to bolt everything to it that came off your motor. You can buy ten eclipse engines and install them, it still won't run if you don't have everything hooked up right.

but the evo engine has higher compression its 8.8:1. and bigger turbo. so wouldn't it need the 510s?
