I know i know everyone has a bunch of threads asking a bunch of questions about there motor swap and I have spent days reading each one and i just want to really make sure I got this right!

This is my first motor swap I've ever done.

But I do have two other people helping me.
1. Owns his own 1gb talon pulled and put motors in these cars a few times
2. tons of experenice pulling and installing motors non on a dsm until now! :thumb:

Long story short my old motor is toast and i bought a new motor
JDM engine for sale

It comes with the cyclone intake manifold has the 450cc injectors 6 bolt awd 5 speed.

Im keeping my old head and trans becuase they are built and i can sell the other misc parts to my buds who need/want them.

The motor i used to have was a US gray and red top motor regulator intake manifold with mods etc.

the old motor had 7:8:1 compression and i beileve this one has 8:5:1?
(that sound right)

Can i use the head and intake manifold exhaust manifold from the old motor?

my tranny bolt up right?

can i use my old wiring harness and ecu?

I have a 1992.5 eagle talon tsi awd 5 speed

Please don't tell me I should of bought the short block and please don't just direct me to another thread i read a crap load of them, unless they DIRECTLY relate!

any advice, concerns, comments, problems, tools, wont work's, experence etc are all welcome!!!

PLEASE HELP THANKS GUYS AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!:):thumb:

I was told that you couldn't use my ECU or harness. and I was told my old motor had 7:8:1 and the newer one had higher compression. any idea why that would be said?

keep in mind it was/is a 1992.5 eagle talon tsi awd 5 speed

There is no reason you cant use your harness, ecu or any other of your parts. The cyclone motor is almost the same exact motor. We did this same swap awhile back and used same ecu and harness.

The 93-94 7-bolt had 8.2 (I think), as far as I know, the stock turbo 6-bolts all had 7.8 (the non-turbos had 9.0) The cyclone intake takes some work, though. If you want a pain-free installation, then you'll just take eveything off of your old motor, and put it on the new one.

I already have the old motor out and completely apart and i did leave the trans in.

I just wanted to make sure the ecu would still run the car right.

I'm running on an SAFC-II right now so I'm getting a complete retune when i'm done.

I heard alot about how those cyclone intakes are cool and great to have IF AND ONLY IF they work other wise they are a PAIN! and i'm not up for more problems! it's still my daily!

thanks for the help so far! any questions you have or concerns common problems or mistakes please let me know asap i'm doing the install this weekend! woot!

arp head studs and mls 4 layer mitsu gasket.
