I'm swapping pieces of my 2g over to my new 1g block and I'm using the picture from magnusmotorsports.com as a guide. On my 2g block, I have pulleys where the red circles are but magnusmotorsports does not. In fact, it looks like they've removed both pulleys and blocked them off. What gives? What do those pulleys do? I think one of them is for the balance shaft but the other?? Thanks for any help.

The reason things are missing in the pic is because balance shafts have been eliminated on that engine. This is a fairly common practice on dsm's. Search fro balance shaft elimination and that will answer your questions.

The upper one is where the front balance shaft pulley was and the lower one is where the balance shaft belt tensioner was. They are both eliminated together with the rear balance shaft using the BS eliminator kit.

Doesn't hurt anything to leave the balance shaft in though, right? I need to put this engine together by tomorrow and I doubt I'll be able to score a kit before Monday.

I say don't leave them in, others will say it is "just fine" to leave them so what do I know? You will probably leave them in just because so many others were "successful" when they were cutting corners.

Alright alright. I'll take them out. The deciding factor was that I already have new bearings in the block so that'll save some money. How is the cooling to the turbo hooked up on the 1g? I noticed my oil pump no longer goes to the turbo but I'm supposed to tee in a line to the coolant. Turbo isn't oil-cooled in the 1g?

If you take out the front, you are planning on removing the rear and installing a stub shaft correct?

The motor I got already had the balance shafts removed and the bearings rotated 180. I just capped it with some silicon and put the stub tube in the rear. :thumb:

Does anyone know how to physically hook up the 1g CAS to the 2g motor. I'm NOT talking about the wiring. The 1g CAS should hook up the the intake cam but on my 2g head, there is nothing to hook it up to. On the left side of my head, there's nothing but a cap. Any ideas? I'll post pics if anyone is confused on what I'm talking about.

This is my problem. You can see on the intake cam, there's nothing that will connect to the cas. There's just a cap on the end of it. So if anyone knows any ideas or how this is supposed to work, I would greatly appreciate it. (Btw, I have a 91-92 cas.) If not, can I put my crank sensor back on the 1g block and have it hooked up like it was originally?

In that picture, the intake cam is in the top of the picture, not the bottom. The 1G cas slip fits into the end of a 1G intake cam and bolts to 2 bosses in the head.
