I just got my car back from the shop today. Fresh rebuild... I drove home, no issues... No hard launching, no traveling over 4,500... Took my dad for a spin, wanted to hear the car and how it sounds. We're cruising along, everything is fine, still, keep in mind, no crazy ass driving, 4,500 max RPM, no hard launches or gear drops. I start to notice my boost gauge is no longer reading, and when I left off the clutch, I can't hear my BOV. Suddenly a plume of white smoke is flowing out of my exhaust. WTF HAPPENED!? I'm so lost, the engine turns over, cranks up, runs everything. But this smoke, I didn't do enough to blow a HG, I just put a Cometic 4-layer in and I'm running about 16lbs of boost currently. WTF! I'm so sad...

Did you take off the air filter and check to see if your turbo is blown? Is it pure white smoke or kinda bluish?

I would start with a compression test. Did you resurface the head when you installed the new gasket?

Good point. You should ALWAYS resurface the head and check the deck for warpage. Did they reuse your stock headbolts when they installed the head? If so then that would cause a blown headgasket. If it just got a fresh rebuild I would take it to the shop and make them fix it.

Eh, it was a brand new head with ARP's. But they finally got around to fixing it, turbo seized up and the turbine snapped and took off through the exhaust. Yeah... so I went and bought a GT35R and said to hell with it.

Replacing the turbo is the easy part, finding out why before slapping on another turbo (a GT35R no less) is what is important. Tubines don't just snap off for no reason, I would check and make sure there are no oiling issues.
