Help removing exhaust manifold

I'm having trouble removing my exhaust manifold. The bolt in the picture is the one I'm having problems with. Why wouldn't this bolt be like the other 3 that you just pull out? I've already removed the power steering pump... am I missing something?

I think you can just pull the exhaust manifold bck and pull up and the manifold should just slip off that bolt. Thats the way mine was.

It's a stud. Hit it with some PB Blaster. Soak it real good, and let it sit for an hour or two, then do it again. You might even want to let it soak over night. You should be able to get it out after a good PB Blaster treatment. You may want to replace the stud with a bolt, Mitsu. part number MR187699. I think they're about 10 bucks from a Mitsu. dealer.

Thanks for the help. But how to you get that stud out? The only way I know of is to twist it out with vice grips. *noob* Unless there's another way to get the stud out I guess I'll just twist it out and replace it with a bolt like the other 3.

You can double nut it. Get another nut that fits, then tighten the 2 nuts against each other. When the nuts are nice and tight, you should be able to remove the stud by using the bottom nut.

Its a spray that you spray on rusted parts. Works really good. Come in a white spray can with a yellow cap.

go to your local parts store and they should have it. the thing works wonders...

that's a stud, not a bolt, it's more or less attached to the turbo. You can pull the manifold up off of it, it will stay with the turbo.

Thanks for the help! I got it off using the double-nut method. I was thinking of replacing it with a bolt, but the stud really wasn't hard to get off at all. Now I have to look for a new manifold because there's a crack in mine.
