First of all, I've researched a LOT about turbos, so please don't be mean when answering my question, and please don't tell me to read compressor maps. I am simply asking peoples' opinions on which turbo is the best for me.

With that said, I need a very streetable "pump gas performance" turbo for my GVR4. I want something that spools under 4000rpm and produces good power. I have FPCam1/FPCam2 combo cams with a stock head. I am looking for about 400hp for the street, and more with race gas. I have been looking at three turbos:

Garrett GT3071R, FP3065, and Turbonetics 50 trim.

The below image is where I estimate my car to be in the 50 trim compressor map:

The FP3065 is based around the GT30, so I'd estimate it would be close to the GT30 compressor map. Anyone with experience with these or similar turbos is welcome to chime in. I've read Evil_eagle's review of the FP3065, which is what turned me onto this turbo. Thanks for any help.

Hey Brute, I just figured Id throw in my two cents to help ya with someone elses opinion. Your looking for 400hp streetable with potential for more on race gas. So... with that said, I would recommend the Garret GT3071R. It is the best out of the three that your looking into. Many of my friends have been through an endless array of turbos, from Hybrids to OEM mitsubishi turbos, to you name it. Garret turbos have always been the ticket. (Mitsubishi OEM turbos are next best). The Garret turbos have always been reliable, always a very good quality product, and never cease to impress and satisfy. If I were you, I'd go with the Garret that your looking into, and as to spooling under 4k, that should be no problem as long as you have a good flow coming. If you buy the turbo and bolt it on and find that its not spooling as you wanted it to, try going with a bigger hardpipe. If you already have a bigger hardpipe for additional flow and you still arent getting the spool you want, then try the alternative as to porting the turbo. Well, I don't know if I was much help, but I wish you good luck on the project. Take it easy, Artist.

Well I won't tell you to read any compresser maps if you won't try to make me read any

In other words, it looks like you know as much or more about turbos then many people here on this board.

I suggest next time posting in the turbo tech forum, as that is where you will find more advanced knowledge in regard to turbos.

Having said that, and just for grins; what about the green?

I have read alot about the gt style turbos (dual ball bearing) and there is nothing but good that i read...Everyone that has a gt stlye turbo says that they would never go back!!! i have a gt35r but not installed yet, so ill know for sure if what everyones says is true....:thumb:
