Alright, so It's late I havent' slept for a couple days, it's freaking freezing, and I really hope I'm just tired and lunching on this, and someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm doing a 1g 7bolt, to 6bolt block swap and I'm bolting back up my drivers halfshaft. The one side of the bracket is spaced about half an inch from the bolt hole in the block(yellow circle), yet the other side is flush... It's on the right two holes. I took it out and matched it up to my old engine.. Yep it fits.
So what's the deal? Is this something I just haven't heard about in 6bolt swaps?? Are the brackets spaced differenetely? This block is definitely a NT but built turbo. Are NT brackets different? What about automatic?
haha, anyways.. I need some advise on what to do, anyone whos been there. I dont want to undertorque/undersupport this bracket as I've had the bolts back out on me before and cause a hell of a vibration..

Thanks!
And please ignore the RTV job...

Am I just going to have to space it with washers, maybe a nut and washers? Will that torque properly?

its because that the a/c bracket is missing I believe. get that bracket from the seven bolt motor and see if it fills the gap right there. I think that the a/c bracket goes right behind that thing.

haha, it does!! Thanks man your a lifesaver. I knew I was missing something simple.
What do you guys do who remove the A/C, just add washers to space it?
I'd rather not add that large heavy item back to my engine if I can help it..

Thanks smokey!

no problem, I know the feeling after being up that long, your just ready to get it over with at that point. You could just use some spacers or if you want it to fit perfect you could cut that ear off the bracket.

So I got to thinking.. What to do with the cars that came without A/C ?? They must have a stock spacer!!
Looked through caps for a while came across mb297732, Front Axle Spacer. 1.95, 3 day wait from the dealership. If I dont have my car up in 3 days I'll just get it from the dealership, otherwise i'll use some washers.
Just wanted to give the info for anyone else who might need it.

The jackshaft spacer is 8mm or .3149 inches thick. I would not use a stack of washers as it will not be very precise. Accelarated wear will occur if you take a seated ball bearing and then change it's loading angle more then a few thousandths.

I've seen it happen on engine lathes if you improperly adjust the headstock alignment.

That's what I was thinking/afraid of. I'm very anal and try do everything right, which is why I ordered the stock spacer. I've had these bolts back out on me before and it's not fun going down the highway..
Good information for anyone else thinking of using washers!

The other option is to reuse the stock AC bracket, but just trim it so the only portion you use is the lower porition that provides spacer.

I trimmed the stock bracket, and reused that. Cheap/Fast.

Either way,

Does the bolt line up on a 2g/7 bolt like that? I could of sworn that my bolt was offset and only bolted to the back of the bracket, and that I need the lower mount points on the bracket to attach it to the block?
