So I was sitting at a red light today and all of a sudden I noticed that the car was starting to idle rough. Then it started getting worse and a clunking noise started and I was like sh!t, thats the end of my winter beater (this happened on my '91 Laser RS turbo). It was so bad that the car was shaking and the clunking was loud. Then all of a sudden it started to get quieter and quieter until magically it was gone. Everything runs normal now just like it did before it happened.

So someone please give me an idea of what may have happened. Turbine blade get sucked in the engine? Something else maybe got sucked in the engine? I am baffled right now that such a sound that usually means the demise of the engine could just go away and with no side effects. WTF

I look forward to hearing people's input.:thumb:

Could have been a lump of carbon. When a lump gets loose, the noise can be quite disturbing. If you can't find a turbo blade missing, then perhaps this was what you had heard. Use seafoam through a vacuum line to help clean it out.

Good Luck

Thanks for the quick reply. :thumb: I will try some seafoam one of these days.

It made my brain hurt hearing that horrible noise like i was throwing a rod or something, then it went away and everything was okay again.
