Help identifying oil leak (video included)

Looks more like trans fluid than oil but I maybe wrong. Hard to see where the highest point of the leak is except for the end of the video.

UPDATE

I don't think I was looking high enough. I kept trying to follow it up and it seems like it may be coming out around the CAS (cam angle sensor, crank angle sensor, which one is it?) or the valve cover. I'm going to degrease the bay and clean up all the oil and hopefully pinpoint it.

I would put a new o ring on the cas and see if it stops leaking. Next step would be a valve cover gasket.

Yep, I just ordered both from JNZ. Gives me an excuse to put on my new valve cover that I painted two months ago. It's just been sitting on my desk.

Erik you could put "dye" in your oil, a little goes a LONG way, then check your engine with a UV light. I am doing the same thing now on a leak somewhere around my timing components and kinda looks like mine is a balance shaft seal. But the dye will make locating it alot easier. Might think about trying that to pinpoint it. It's VERY visible with the light. Just a suggestion.

Good idea, I don't think I'll need it though. I degreased the engine yesterday and cleaned it up spotless, which made finding the leak easy. It is the CAS leaking and running down the back side of the block which is why I didn't see it originally.

I ordered the new o-ring, I'll have it in a couple days. :thumb:

GREAT!!! I had my oil problem and was still stumped so I posted a picture and one reply got me fixed up (crossing fingers). Glad to here it. I hate those pesky oil leaks.

Ok, got the new o-ring and valve cover seals, and the leak is definitely coming from under the CAS, so I'm going to replace those this weekend. But before I do, do these bolts look right on the CAS? To me they kinda look like the originals were lost and these were a DIY replacement.

Looks fine, originally there was suppose to be a brace there that connects to the throttle body but since it was removed you need to compensate for missing space which the washers are doing.

Good job finding the leak, most people forget to go to the highest point (including myself some.times). New valve cover looks sweet.

OK cool, thanks!

Do I just unbolt it and replace the o-ring, then bolt it back up in the same position?

Do I have to worry about accidently changing the timing or anything? I'm not sure how it works so I don't want to mess anything up.
