I install a Spyder Block with my 1g Head, everything is working good, But know That I have read so many threads with 2.0L and 2.4L.
I found out that the spyder came with a 2.4L..

The Block was took off from a spyder (Turbo), But, It has no squirters!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Could it be from a Non Turbo Spyder?.

Did the Turbo Spyder, came with no Squirters?.

How Do I identify the Block?, If it is a 2.4L, Or if it is a 2.0L.

At some point comes to my mind, That it could be a 2.0L.:hmm:

Any help would appreciated.

factory turbocharged spyders came with the 2.0l 4g63. they were called the GST spyder.

non-turbo one's came with the 2.4l 4g64. someone just put a turbo on it

like said about. no oil squirters=4g64

The squirters on a 2g 4g63 are different than on a 1g. The squirters on the 2g blocks are a hole on the top of the main journals in the block, and can pretty much only be seen by looking down the cylinder bores.

why? that 4g64 won't hold up to the heat of a turbo.(if its a 64)

It might not, But, It can be a good Stoker with some aftermarket pistons.

I be leave, that is cheaper to get aftermarket pistons then getting a 2.4 crank and not saying a block.

I guess or straight me if I'm wrong.

Its not a stroker motor. A stroker is when you put the 4g64 crankshaft into a 4g63 with forged rods and stroker pistons. Aslong as u keep the boost down to 8psi it will work ok with the stock n/T pistons

OK, I got it.

Now, Putting aftermarket pistons on a 2.4L (not turbo), would make a really good engine?.

I read this Project 4G64 and at the 20th pic, it says, that he plug some oil holes at the block to fit with the 1g head!!!!!!!!!!..WTF

I just install my 1g head on the 2.4L with out doing anything, and I used the 4g63 timing belt.

I haven't boost it up, But it is being running great.

I have a 6 bolt block all ready machine with new stock pistons and refinished crank. (Crank is 10 - 20).

Isn't better to rebuild the 4g64 and just install aftermarket pistons?.
Could it hold better power then the 6 bolt?.

youre good there, the 4g63 and 4g64 are the exact same other then the oil squirters, bore, deck height, pistons and the crank. the heads(if you find a dohc galant 4g64) are the same. i know because I'm running a dohc 4g64 head.

i doubt it sense the weak point in the 7 bolt 4g63t(64s and 63s have same rods) is the rods and in order for the 4g64 to hold more ponies you'll need forged rods and forged pistons
good luck

Last year we boosted a stock 4G64 with a T25/GT2860 hybrid turbo. We kept the SOHC and all. It is running 8 psi with spikes of up to 15 off of 450cc injectors and tuned with ECMLink v3.

The car still runs and boosts hard today.

I will provide our modification list to the best of my memory:

- Stock 4G64 Block
- Stock 4G64 SOHC Head
- eBay Aluminum Pulley Set
- Custom PVC/Flex Hose Routing for the Radiator Hosing
- Nology Silver Plugs
- Nology Ignition Wires
- Nology Power Cores
- Custom Intake w/ Chrome Intakes Filter
- 2G Knock Sensor
- CX Racing Intercooler Core
- Custom Aluminum Piping (Pieced together from a leftover 2G Hahn aluminum piping kit an eBay aluminum piping.)
- 1GA Throttle Body
- eBay DNP Knock-Off Tubular Exhaust Manifold (Heat wrapped.)
- Hybrid Turbo (T25 hot side with a GT2860 compressor.)
- eBay 3" Downpipe
- eBay 3" Exhaust System
- 450cc Injectors
- Fuel Lab AFPR
- Walbro 255 Re-wired
- GM 3" MAF
- GST Transmission
- Fidanza Flywheel
- F1 Stage 3 Clutch
- Hallman Pro MBC
- Tein Basic Coilovers
- GlowShift Wideband
- ECMLink v3

someone might need to correct me but that's a big no no. the 4g64 block is 6mm taller so it has a longer timing belt.

If it has a 4G63 head, you need to either buy a DOHC 4G64 timing belt from an early 90s Galant (as well as the cam gears for it) or use a 4G63 belt and shave down the tensioner.

...Please leave 4G64 technical discussion to 4G64 owners.

am i wrong in saying it won't hold up to the heat?? yeah the stock 4g64 can hold up to low boost(but what engine can't? i see stock block b16 with turbos all the time where i live. at only 8 lbs or so. does that mean they'll handle high boost??) but anything higher then that and the pistons are going bye bye. i wouldn't boost the 4g64 without the right internals IMO.
i guess i should have said in my original statement that the stock 4g64 will not handle the higher temps of high boost :thumb:

I just looked at the engine and found out that it is a 4g63.

I don't know, HOW THE H******L PUT A 4G63 NOT TURBO INA A SPYDER:ohdamn:

Well, Now that I know what I have a 4g63 not turbo.

Does it will hold more then 8psi of boost?.

I believe that it holds more then the 4g64, Isn't?.

if its the 4g63 and not the 4g63t then you're in the same boat as having a 4g64.(obviously without the displacement). the pistons will not hold high boost/ high temps but will still be good for 8 lbs...IMO don't boost it and just get a 4g63t block and the turbo pistons and then you'll be set.

Did everyone just skip over donnie's post?

OP, are you absolutely sure you don't have a turbo block -or are you trying to find 1G oil squirters on a 2G block? Look here, this is what you're looking for:

I think there's a good chance it's a stock 4G63 spyder GST block. Pull out a spark plug and shine a flashlight down on the top of a piston. If it says
on it, I'm pretty sure you still have a completely stock 2G turbo bottom end.

It would run the same, as a turbo car, off boost.

Plus it's only a .5 CR ratio difference on a NT 1g 4g63 and turbo 2g.

NT= 9:1
2g T= 8.5:1....

So minimal.

I think you may have misunderstood. I think he was trying to say that only the block was swapped. The DOHC cylinder head and turbo system is now in place on that block.

Yes sir I did misunderstand that Thank you for correcting me LOL. He should be fine then i would say. Wonder what its like with the 4g64 head
