hey guys, im having a problem with my car and its really starting to get to me. It started about 4 months ago and it was a chu chu chu chu chu sound only under acceleration in 2nd gear. Tehn it worked itsway into 1st and third gear. This was when i had an act 2100 plate with a stock mitsu disc and stock flywheel. Sincethen,i have replace everything short of the tranny. Newparts are- Fidanza fliywheel, act 2600, new axle seals, t-case seals, center axle bearing, front axles, new u joints, carrier bearings, syncroshift. I finished the car yesterdayand i went and drove it i have the same exact noise in the same gears. i just dont see why it would be the trans, the car shifts nicer than any dsm i have ever driven, doesnt grind or feel notchy at all. anyone have any thoughts? If u need any more info just ask. thanks in advance!

Did you replace all the u-joints on the driveshaft and check the Lobro Joint boot for tears?
I just replaced my rear axle bearings in response to a similar noise. Grab the top of each wheel and push/pull. If you feel any "play" it's likely the bearing(s) have gone bad :dsm:

I just did all the u joint's, replaced the carrier bearings also. The lobro joint seemed find when i took did the carrier bearigns. the only other thing is oday i had it up on jackstands and i had it in gear the majority of the noise seeems to be coming from the passenger front wheel, towards the end of the tranny where i beleive the viscous is. Thanks

Did you find a fix to the problem yet? The SAME EXACT thing is happening with my car, Same clutch set up also. I took the stock disc out and put in the 2100 disc and a fidenza flyhwheel, But the noise is still there.. It's only when I go to put it in second gear and accelerate.. Or, I can hear it alittle faint bit when the car is in neutral , With the clutch out. It also will do it but not as bad, If I rub the shifter up against, Like it's going to get put in
2nd gear, But without actually pushing the clutch in, Just tapping it up against it.

My 97 eclipse has been doing the same thing for about 3 months. It started in second then went to 1st and 3rd, and is working its way into 4th. its pretty fricken loud too. especially from outside the car. I havent had the $$ to fix anything yet but from reading both of you guys' posts, Im assuming it isnt the clutch or any joints. If you figure it out, let me know before I replace the wrong parts. thanks.
