I was going to shift my battery over a little today (it was rubbing my intake before) and as I was loostening the 2 bolts for the battery hold down, one of them snapped. Its the one on the strut tower. Would drilling it out and putting a new one in be the best way to deal with this?

Also, is it safe to drive if the hold down is not connected, or could it possibly damage something? (I just wanted to be sure)

Thanks for your help:thumb:

Your safe drill it and re-tap it, some run without the tie down however after my experience i'll never run without a tie down again. no tie down = battery arced onto hood fried entire electrical system

holy shit, thats not good!:(

I gotta drive the car home to get my drill, its about a 20 minute drive at highway speeds, anyting I can do to make sure that I dont fry something???

alright, so I just went to Home Depot and they let me use their drill, I had to buy a bit and a bolt. But, I fixed it up right (except for when the drill slipped and took some of the paint off my strut tower:rolleyes: )

Home Depot rules, they saved my @$$

Mike1992: thanks for all your help man, it is appreciated. You might have saved me from frying my electical system!:thumb:

hmm my tiedown has been off since i had the car. I have the rubber over the positive tierminal so theres no way to arc it out. Ill fix it up today though.

Well, I guess some of it was my fault, the positive side had a wing nut on the terminal and it somehow cut through the reb rubber boot and arced on the hood. The boot caught on fire and black smoke was coming from everywhere. Within 6 minutes my laser was dead and I was very sad for 2 long years
