medicine hat,
alright, i was trying to pull out my driverside axle so i could replace the boot on the halfshaft....BUT.... i cant get my axle out of the hub...so now i have a mushroomed part of the axle sticking out of the hub and it wont budge! i've already realized that i will have to replace the whole axle now....but what can i do to get the damn thing out of the hub?? no parts stores in town have an axle puller....and now I'm lost. I've tried beating it with a hammer as hard as i can...with No result other than the mushroomed part... help me please?( ive been soaking it with wd-40...but still nothing.)

I suggest calling up some junk yards to find a whole new (well, used) hub.

On my '92, the axle absolutely would not budge. I used a small sledge, mushroomed it like you did, cut off the mushroom part, took an acetylene torch to it, almost melting through it, and nothing. Took it to a machine shop, they couldn't get it out.

I ended up going to a you-pull-it while my hub was in the machine shop and picked up another hub, got a new bearing and seals and had the shop press those in.

I scrapped the entire half-shaft/hub/rotor assembly.

well i might have to do that then. I just bought some "Nut Cracker" stuff that everyone talks and swears by....I'm trying to squirt it in as often as possible and I'll let it sit over night...hopefully by tomorrow it might come out...i cant just scrap the thing because i called all the places in town to see if i could order a new axle...and no one had any in all of Canada...except one company who will only order me one if i bring my old one in. The reason for that is because when ever they order axles of talons the wrong ones get shipped....so there gonna send mine up there to make a match then ship it down. so i really really need to get that axle out of the hub!!
