Hey, how's it going? Question for ya? What is the difference between the head of a 1G turbo and a 1G non-turbo? If I go to a junk yard and find a 1G non-turbo head in good condition and planned on rebuilding it in the first place, does it matter if it's a T or N/T? Same question goes with the 1G block...I know the compression ratio is different, but could I use a 1G non-turbo 6-bolt and rebuild it with a 1G crank, 1G rods and 2G pistons? Thanks!

yes, but there is alot more you have to swap then just the 6 bolt crank. You would also have to swap the 6 bolt flywheel, and 6 bolt head too. along with some other shit i really don't want to list off.

none in the head they are the same p/n for both. as far as the block plenty of people have used n/t blocks for turbo application the only diff in the blocks is the turbo block has oil squirters in it and the n/t does'nt , but alot of race shops remove and weld shut the oil squirters on the turbo blocks anyway to eliminate the oil squirter sticking open and creating an oil pressure loss. so yeah you could easily use a n/t block in place of a turbo block...the oil squirter thing is up to you i like the idea of having them myself for street use, but some people don't want them, it's kinda like the balance shaft thing....i believe mitsu put them there for a reason (squirters). if you are thinking about it call buschar racing and talk to dave about it and see what he has to say about the oil squirter removal or lack of because i have'nt ever removed any or ran a n/t block as a turbo.:dsm:

Thank you sooo much for your help! I am going to the junkyard today to grab the engine! Let the fun begin!!!! I should be able to grab a second 1G head if anyone wants to buy it. Hopefully I can get both engines. See ya!

The cams might be a little different. Degree timing wise, and mabey lift. to be honest i realy don't know.

yeah , the head is fine for a rebuild, as i stated the heads are indentical. yes the cams are different...the ideal stock cams are turbo, stick shift from 91-92. any of the cams will work though and they all will provide the same horsepower but at different rpm ranges, thats the only defference.:dsm:
