Hello Need Help No spark Cyl 1, 4

Hello need help with my eclipse i don't have spark on cyl 1, 4 same coil, i did some testing : transistor unit, OK. Coil Pack, OK . Cam sensor signal OK. Crank sensor signal OK. but the ecu is not sending a positive signal to the transistor for the cyl 1, 4. but for the 23 cyl i have bliking positive signal . coul i be My ECU??? or there is something else that can be bad

It sure sounds like the ECU. As you have said, the ECU is supposed to put out positive pulses to trigger the transistor. There is a chip on the board that takes care of firing both coils, IC4, but I have often found instead that it is an open trace from acid damage. The acid runs up underneath the connectors and opens the trace right before the signal gets to the connector. Check for continuity from pins 24 & 26 of IC4 to the 2 ignition output pins of the ECU. They are the traces right next to the 2 blue resistors.

Nevermind my first post, I was thinking you had a 1G. Are you using the stock 1997 ECU or a 1995 EPROM ECU? I might have a 1997 ECU kicking around under my bench I could loan you.

I'm having the same problem. noticed you have a convertible as well... dose it leak just a little when it rains? I have replaced some sensors already to no avail, and i'm starting to think its my computer as well...
something I've noticed about my car is, after i've cranked on the ignition to get her started, which she dose, and i shut her off there is a weird clicking, electrical noise coming from under my hood and a fried electrical smell... this only happens when the key is still in the ACC. position and stops once i turn it off. it also only happens after i have started the car not when i put the key into the the acc or on position from off. Any thoughts or resolutions to this problem of running on 2 cylinders?

YEs you r right mine leak alot when raining i had to replace my cd player and my infinity sound system. i just bought a ecu from ebay. iam waiting for it , i let you know if it was the ecu..

i wonder if the extra moisture in the car has caused the ecm to go bad faster... and definately keep us posted on the new ecm.

car is firing on all cylinders now turned out it was the ignition control module... just wanted to post my solution because they seem to be rare on the forum.
