So I have an aftermarket exhaust manifold and no heat shield. When the engine is at normal operating temp, the temperature from the mani heats up the whole engine bay to the point that I can't touch anything for atleast 2-4 hours after I shut it down.
So a cheap solution would be to heat wrap it? One of the sponsors above sells them for like $11 for a black wrap.
Good idea or bad? Could care less how ugly it looks at the moment.

Tubular.... am I going to need an adhesive spray or anything else like that?

No you wont need any adhesive spray. If you use the 1" wide stuff, you should be able to make it look nice. They make stainless steel ties that you can also get to hold it together at the ends. Also, if you soak it in water before wrapping it, you are able to stretch it a bit and once it dries it will be nice and tight. You can also buy a spray that goes on once your done, and will help protect it from greasy hands and fading.

If its a cheap after market tubular would heat wrap, since its trapping more heat, cause cracks quicker?
I'm sure if its a good brand it'll hold with no problem but what about the cheapy version?

heat wrapping is fine. reduces engine bay temps by a lot. but can damage cheaper headers in the long run.

Here's my FP manifold:

That tape was black for about 50 miles. Works great though.

I wrapped my EIII 16g turbine housing and all the way to the flex pipe. I can transport ice cream under my hood.
