Well I've got to dig into the mental archives for this one since I haven't owned a GS for a few years, but what I look for are the following:

1. Quality stainless steel construction and clean welding
2. A 4-2-1 design for better scavenging and torque production
3. A flanged connector to the cat pipe and not some cheesy slip fit
4. Primary tubes that match the the head flange on the inside diameter.

Unfortunately I didn't use a checklist like this when I bought my header and I ended up with a leaky piece of crap that needed tons of work to function semi-properly.

I'm sure more of the N/T guys will jump in with their recommendations but I would say that you're looking for a less expensive knockoff of a DC Sports style header.

Good luck!

Andy

Andy pretty much hit the nail on the head! However now nearly all headers offered on Ebay are pretty much ok. I'm not saying not to be skeptical, just make a wise decision. If you have any doubts, message the seller. Try to stick with the Ebay stores as opposed to individual sellers.

I had 4-1, I liked the top end gain I recieved from them.

I have learned that 4-1 is better for exhaust flow and you get a better increase in power from the bolt on. 4-2-1 has to go through too much work for the exhaust gas to exit.

sweet, thhanks for the help guys, unfortuantely i think the bearing that connects the rod to the crankshaft is garbage. im getting a really bad ticking sound and i used a stelthescope to see where it was coming from. and it was from the bottom right side of the block if u were looking at the motor from the front of the car. any other possibilities?

Nothing down there but #4 rod/bearing and crankshaft. Unless there's something loose inside your tranny bellhousing. (Which I find to be scarier.)

yea, well the ticking seems to be gettin worse, almost to the point where i can hear it over my exhaust. so i guess i'll just have to spend the money to get it looked at. i dont know enuff to do it myself
