Just purchased a 92 Talon N/T, have installed short ram intake and 21/2" cat back exhaust. I would like to also install a header either a Pacesetter or Hedman. have heard some bad things about the Pacesetter, anyone have any experience whith these two brands ? Which one should I buy ?

everyone gave pacesetter a bad wrap because fo the weds. they are a little in the runners at the head flange. take a dremel and a nice porting bit, port them out to be gasket matched , and youll love it. i had them opn my car. they kicked ass.

the hedmans are nto out yet. there backordered. for a month or so i beleive

I just bought a Pacesetter header and I really like it, but it was coated by JetHot and it's gaurteened not to crack...can feel a performance difference...would requmend an OBX but the have a recall and will not be out for a while :( ... I had to put on a new cat, I used one of those "high flow" test pipe ones from ebay, but it was the turbo cat. but w/ minor fab. can work.

I just bought a Hedman and it took one month to get to me in Canada. the price I paid was about half the list price. try to buy anyhting through a wholesaler, its great. anyways, I am installing it this week and I think it looks really great. came with header, downpipe and straight pipe for $570 Canadian.

That seems kind of expensive? I believe you can get the Pacesetter for less than $100 on Ebay.

Hedman is also one of the best header company's. plus it comes with header, downpipe, and straight pipe with HTC coating.

Where d'ya find it, brotha?

By the way, is the Hedman a 4-2-1 or a 4-1 design?

Looking to regain some low-end torque after my exhaust mod, looking for 4-2-1 and wanting more options than the Borla/Archer piece (not that that's bad or anything!).

Thanks :thumb:

Hedman is 4-2-1. I got it from Lordco, it's a wholesaler auto parts store like NAPA, Advanced Auto Parts, Pep Boys. I don't really know what there is in America. Just go to one of those places and find out what the list price is and what they can sell it to you for. check Hedman.com for part numbers as well.

the link i posted above has the part number in it fyi. thats the install instructions.

id still go with the pacesetter and port it out. that worked great for me. but id liek that archer header. who knows what ill end up with

:dsm: ssAutochrome.com sells a 4-1 polished stainless steel header with a downpipe . I've been thinking about buying this item from them. but I don't know anything about the quality of their header. Also will any high flow cat in combination with the header and downpipe still pass emissions?Any help will be appreciated.

anythign ss autochrome should be shat on. i read a lot about them. if there headers are liek there turbo manifolds it will crack in under a month. there tubing isnt good stainless, its cheap ### stainless thats thin. read around on here abotu em. theyll tell you exactly whats up

If you go with Pacesetter, do this and you will be much happier, don't and well, you COULD have the same problems others have had.

After you install the header, take you car to a muffler shop and have a flex pipe put on in place of the ball and socket joint. This will allow the motor to move without binding the exhaust.
This will stop problems like exaust leaks at the ball and socket joint, popped bolts & nuts at the header flange (causing burnt exhaust gaskets), and cracks in the header runners.

It could work well without doing this, but mine didn't so I had this fix done to it and no problems since.

P.S. It is needless to say that the fitament of Pacesetter sucks, and you will need a dremel tool (unless you like torque more than hp) and drill for optimum results.

i ran all grade 8 bolts, pacesetter header, test pipe, and a pacesetter cat back and never had trhose problems. i beat my car to death.

but i have heard a lot of people having those problems. maybe i got lucky

Hey Slider, how much did you pay at Lordco? Since I am in Abby it should be the same, but of course it is lordco we're talking about. they have 10 different prices for the same part, just depends if they're in a good mood that day :)

he sold it to me for 500 plus tax. I loooked at the screen while he was typing it up and apparently the list retail price was 900, so that was great. also just had it installed couple days ago and I would say that the biggest difference is in 3rd and 4th gear because the car just gets up to speed quicker.

I tried to get an OBX header for my 1G NT, but i can't find them anymore, no matter where I'm searching for. I bet it'd be easier finding parts if I were living in america. crappy Germany :thumbdown

If anybody knows some addresses on the web, please let me know

i got my OBX polished stainless 4-2-1 2pc. on ebay for about 190 shipped. wow what a difference. it winds my 2.0 alot faster. 1 3/4" near equal runners into 2" double downpipe, then into 2 1/4" mid-pipe. bolts up in about 15 minutes.
