im getting my head totaly redone soon but before i did so just wanted to ask some people is it even a good thing since i do not have a turbo yet, and also some opinions in getting my intake manifold done, i know it is pointless to get a sheetmetal intake manifold without a turbo, so is getting my factory intake manifold done pointless to? or should i keep it factory ported.

pretty much what im doing is trying find what would be best, im not porting the head till i figure out if i need a sheet metal intake manifold or just keep the factory one and get it ported, would there be performance loss with a sheetmetal? due to the fact that i am without turbo?

The only reason you should run a sheet metal manifold is if you plan on running a hugh turbo or high revs. the stock manifold will start to hinder flow at some point. The only negative side of running one on a N/T car will the lose of lowend and some mid-range power.

I'd say a stock rev-limit makes any sheetmetal intake pretty much a waste of time. If you plan on revving to 8500, well, might want to consider one then. If you want real-world proof, look at Dre's dyno charts. Now at 500whp on pump gas, but his 7000 or less hasn't changed much in years.

If you plan on getting a turbo, headwork is probably a waste of time, too, other than a radius valve job. 1g's flow so much it probably doesn't matter what you do to them. These cars like boost and revs, and not much else seems to matter all that much unless you have a race car.

alright thanks guys, im just gonna stick with my factory one im not gona waist money or performance on a sheetmetal, and im gonna get the head re-done no matter what because im burning oil at idle, so im gonna hone the piston walls get my pistons sand blasted and rings replaced, im getting the seals replaced in the head and polished like new while i have it out im just gonna get all the good stuff done to it, and i was actually thinkin about puttin some good cam shafts in it, ill come out cheeper that way and with a new engine pretty much anstead of a used one.
