Alllllright, so if any of you have followed my constant wining
you will know i had ~90psi comp on cylinder 2.
Upon teardown it APPEARED like all 4 pistons/cylinders were fine and the HG was def perfect. Valves looked good to my untrained eye.
Here is a close up of what the machinist found. Notice the burn mark. He tried to pull vac and it wouldnt even work it was drawing so much air. He pulled vac on all of the cylinders and the came out "perfect" in his words. Said the ptw was just a tiny bit loose but appeared to be built that way to support very high power levels. Im aware of that and obviously need adequate ptw if im making 600+ crank hp
Also notice the nick on the flat spot away from the valve. I did not see this before but it will most likely put my head beyond service limits. Theres no way i want a nick in there as it becomes a hot spot for detonation instantly. No good. New head i guess. At least its better than a new block.
He also checked deck for level and said it was perfect and approved use of the MLS again. Of course i will have my new head mirror finish and dead level...
Edit: Everything from oil pan to valve cover has 4500 miles, maybe a bit less.
Double edit and question: Im looking for a complete engine gasket set. Who's the best/cheapest to go with? Seen ebay kit that looks good and says "OEM mitsu" for 220. Then STM SIM MAP etc all have kits in the 260+ range. Im unsure. I def want to do the front case gasket correctly. This is a first for me, ive never had an engine down this far. Kind of embarrassing
