I want to get a catback for my 97 non turbo eclipse. I cant decide on which one to get. Should I get a hayame or an apexi n1? I want a deep smooth sound. Loud on the outside but not so loud on the inside. thanks for the advice.

Just get one made and buy a muffler, It'll sound the same and be alot cheaper. My friend just got a full 3" turbo back on his 3rd gen for $35.
Definately better and cheaper to get a muffler shop to do.

Well, before i bought my apexi, i made my own setup and i got a lot of compliments with it. It was entirely halfassed made from pieces of exhaust off other cars LOL. It sounded badass though when u got on it but you dont have a turbo. I'd say go apexi but then again, i've never heard the hayame. Brandon [VFRacing]

i would go with the apexi too.
i had a friend who had a hayame and ill say its not comparable to the apexi!

If you have...

An apex'i exhaust, An hks exhaust, and a $35 exhaust, All which are 3"... Do you think it REALLY makes a difference which one you get? I know what my choice would be.. Although I don't waste money on something just because of the name. Get an exhaust made, And then get what muffler you want. It's the muffler that changes the tone of an exhaust, And if there are resonators etc in the exhaust... Do what you want, It's your money. I can't even tell that my friend's $35.00 turbo back exhaust was made and not bought from a vendor. It looks just as good, And works just as good..

Yes exactly what ^ he said. If you want a specific look, get a universal muffler and weld it onto your custom piping, much much cheaper and has the same effect as the $500 exaust.

Zmann42087 Whats up with that new Espelir exhaust? Do you know what it sounds like?

And for you guys that are telling me to get a muffler and custom make my exhaust. To tell you the truth I wouldn't even know where or how to start doing that. I know you buy a universal exhaust but then what? Do I just tell the muffler shop to put some new piping???

You just take your full stock exhaust to someone that has the piping and can bend it, Then tell them to make the exact same thing, But with whatever size piping you want. Then you just buy the muffler that you want , Apex'i, Hks, etc etc.. The muffler is what makes it sound like it does. Like I said, My buddy got a full 3" turbo back for $35.00. That included the piping, The welding, EVERYTHING. Prices may vary depending on who you go to.

To you guys that go with apexi. What does it sound like at idle. Is it still loud?

My Apex'i N1 cat eliminator turbo back exhaust is very deep sounding. It has two resonators in it, So i'm sure once they blow out it will be alittle louder. At idle, It's a nice deep sounding tone. I got it because I got the full turbo back exhaust with ALL hardware still in the box never used for only $300.00. I coulden't pass it up.
