I threw on my Hawk HPS pads last night (front and rear) and beded them today. All I can say is wow, holy stopping power batman. I seriously think I broke my neck when I was doing the 100-5mph stops at almost full brakeing power. If my rear tires didn't come off the ground I would be surprised. NO fade and crazy braking power.

I have x-drill and slotted rotors on my car now with about 15k on them so I just changed the pads. There were no marks on the rotors so I didn't do anything to them other than just swap the pads. No vibration, pedal movement etc..

On a side note, changing the pads on a dsm is extremly simple and honstly about a 15 min job per wheel (once the wheel is off). There is no reason why anybody should have to pay somebody else to do this for them. Just have anti seeze for the top and bottom clip and back of the pads. I also added some lube to the pins since one of them wasn't sliding in and out 100%. http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/howto/articles/43787/article.html

Just thought I would give my impressions of the Hawk pads so maybe others who are considering them will see that others have had very positive results with them.

With the hawks, do you need to get them warmed up to really grab? From what I understand, they aren't exactly 100% unless they have had a couple stops first to put a little heat in the rotors.

Yes, even the Hawk HPS (street) pad need to be warmed up a little. You do have to be careful, because when they are too cold, its basically the same feeling you get when you over heat the brakes and your trying to stop for that red light.

That is why you are not suposed to run a RACE pad on the street.

The Hawk HPS is about the coldest pad I would run on the street. A few ligt stops and you good to go.

Well, seeing this thread about a week ago inspired me to order a set of Hawk HPS pads for the front and rear. Just got back from taking the car out after putting them on and all I can say is, WOW! These are awesome. They feel so much better than what I had on. They give a better feel, and I haven't noticed any fade yet. I can lock up my brakes at will if I desire (not that I want to, just saying that I have more control). With the other pads I had on the car it was like I had to stand on the brake pedal before I could get them to do anything compared to these hawk pads. No more! :)
