What are you wanting else black?

The bottom half of the dash, the center door panel, and the sides of the radio are gray. Apparently Mitsubishi never made 100% black interior? I would like to get the kit + get a black carpet so that it's 100% black.:thumb:

I think they did at least in 98 but I may be wrong, but be ready for your car to be hotter than Hell! LOL

No idea  I'm ready for that, especially since I'm in Florida :p Need to invest in a good car cover soon.

Blowing my money on a subwoofer and new HU so I will have to put the conversion on hold. If I can't find any good reviews for interior-customs by the time I have the money for it, I will take the plunge and hope for the best.

don't know if their any good but i think im going to try the black kit myself if anyone gives a good review.

If you decided to get it please let me know your opinion on quality and looks! I'm sure others would like to know too.

I know someone with a non turbo talon that has a 100% black interior.
I googled it and there was never a factory 100% black. In 99 the black leather came out but there are still gray panels in the car. Apparently, other than the black leather seat, seat belts, and door center panels, I have the most black from factory in my car. If my car had black leather seats I would of had the rest of the black :banghead:

Time to find someone with black leather seats who doesn't know how rare and expensive it is :hellyeah:

LOL so jerlous of your black leather seats and seat belts!
I am doing the similar thing to my interior. I used some leather like vinyl(symphony $22/yard) to cover the side panel beside the radio and glove box. Then painted the small parts with SEM color paint. Be sure to prep good before you apply the paint, I learned my lesson and used all SEM cleaners and prep stuff. Came out nice. As for glue, use 3M 90 interior glue. Its amazing strong bond. Summer is coming and lets see how it helds up during high heat(No car cover, parked outside).

I need to look for the black seats and seat belts, I don't have them. I wish! Lol

Wow came out really nice! I am trying plasti dip on my lower dash in the coming weeks for the time being. I'll look at the vinyl if the plasti dip fails :thumb: plasti dipping the over head grab handle was a failure, so I may vinyl rap it now :thumb:

SEM paint for plastic is one of the best out there it last a long time. My body is icar certified and swears by it.

For the parts you want black I would just paint and buy some black seats from miller import parts. He has black consoles and other things if you don't want to paint them.

I might try some Duplicolor to convert everything. Although, I never painted anything large in my life. Chance I will mess up :sosad:

If you're worried about messing up on your panels, dont experiment with them first. Get on craigslist and find some cheap 2gnt interior. Or Honda panels and practice. I've successfully painted tan interior plastic using adhesion promoter and 2 stage paint in an aerosol can. The trick is even coats with the same amount of overlap with every coat. Keep the same 50% overlap when you spray to get good even coverage. Scuffing the plastic first with grey scotch pad, cleaning the surface of all hair, dust, dirt etc, then adding adhesion promoter before paint. Give the promoter the recommended flash time. If it says 5 or 15 minutes, set a timer.

Just trying to give advice on how I've handled this scenario. If you've painted before, thats a bonus.

Also, I have a 2gb talon with all black interior plastic panels. Dash, doors, kick panels, runners, console. Only grey material in my driver compartment is the seats. Grey vinyl. *yuck* I wish i had black leather seats as well.

Plastidip works good on interiors. Just make sure you wipe it down with a spray wax the day after. It prevents scratches and peeling.

Plus there's no chance in messing up the plastics. If you ever want to go back to stock peel it.

+1. Seems plastidip is the next best thing to sliced bread.

Yea I think I need to practice. The carpet I don't care about, anything would be better than it is now. The seats I am afraid to try though. I will take your advice on the painting technique, I may paint the seat belts and grab handle black. Any advice on the seats? I am going to go get a pair of back seats from the junk yard and try it on that but I want to try to get it right the first time.

I got some plasti dip and plasti dipped the plastic covers of the grab handle and it came out great, just needs a couple more layers. I may just do this for the dash and panels. I just didn't want peeling but if spray wax will help ill get it :thumb: thanks a lot! Saved me from making a stupid decision of trying to paint for the first time LOL

For the seatbelts, get a junk set from another car that arent terribly stained and try some Ritdye. It's not exactly a "quick" process, but you can turn them any color you want.

Carpet can be bought on ebay. Direct fit, pre cut. $100-ish with shipping. Its alot easier than trying to clean/color your existing carpet. (And it gives it that new smell again)

Mach-V also sells some replacement carpets. You need to trim them to fit (most will be this way), but they're really great. I did mine this winter and they came out great.

EDIT:

Quick tip about the adhesives:

All interior adhesives will degrade pretty rapidly in the heat. What happens is the heat causes the glue to release a gas that dissolves the glue. When the cars are new, they heat everything up in the open to allow the gasses to be released without affecting the glue too much. If you put the panels in your car directly, then you'll have problems.

Instead, you might try letting the panels sit outside in the sun for a while before you reinstall (the longer/hotter, the better). Then, after you install, leave your sunroof cracked when you park. This will allow the car to vent out, keeping the interior cooler and allowing the gasses to exit the car. It's not quite sure-fire, but it'll help.

When I go to the pull and pay I will be looking for a few things including seat belts.

I already have my carpet out and in the process of cleaning it 100%. Got the Duplicolor vinyl and fabric black paint too. Will be doing it this week.

I got back leather seats from a 3G for 25 bucks. They are a directly fit for my 2gb. Also painted them black with SEM color coat, used my nail to scratch the paint after it dried. Nothing comes off. So far so good.

Wow nice :D when I went to the pull and pay, all the 3G's I happened to pass by where stripped clean. Next time I stop by ill look for all the 3G's and see if I can find some leather seats :thumb: I wouldn't mind painting seats as long as I have backups.
