Has anyone made an ITB setup for a 420a

so a few weeks ago i was looking to see what it takes to reach 200 whp on a 420a motor and it lead me to find that an individual throttle body set up could work but there are a few problems i am seeing

the basic idea is to take an extra stock manifold from the 420a take it apart at the where it splits in half and figure out a way to mount a itb setup to the bottom half and no longer using the top half. With modifications the itb setup would need to set on lets just say a box so i can still mount all the sensors like the itc map pcv valve and where needed an egr valve still.

now the setup works in my head and i have looked at quite a few honda set ups and a few neon set ups and the only real problem i am seeing is the throttle position sensor. the 4 smaller throttle bodys i have dont have one and i need some input on if its an idea that should be followed through with and if so how to rig a tps

this is just the start i have most of the parts just need some of the 420a wisemen to send me in the right direction

thanks

thanks its a step in the right direction but thats a neon 420a the intakes in the front i need to look into something mounted close to the firewall (so in reference to the picture backwards) and still curious about the tps sensor is it possiable to by pass and not run one or will i need one

i have 2 sets of honda throttle bodys so i will be taking them apart to work with thanks to the advice in the preludepower link

anyone else have any other great info please let me know

in this case knowledge is power HP that is

thanks

you have to have the tps sensor. just use your stock sensor and come up with a mounting system on one of your throttle bodies. go to neons.org and do a search, there is a lot of helpful information about this topic. the only thing you will be left to figure out is making them fit inbetween the fire wall

ok going in the right direction now reading on a bunch of different forums and it seems like it will work think mounting them to a box will work out but how can u make a bracket to relocate the tps has this ever been done with a 420a

How much of a hp gain are you expecting to get from ITB's? i've seen it on the s2k, looks awesome and all... but im not sure if the price for it is worth it, im not trying to discourage you or anything but how much would itrun for?

i wasnt really looking at it for a hp gain you may have some hp gain from it its more for the i have built this factor :sneaky: and i have not seen one on a 420a talon motor yet so its just a more unique twist to the tuning idea I mean if we all do the same things no ones car will stand out as different (i mean it would be like owning a honda they all look the same) thats why i would really like to solve the tps relocation problem

it all seems to be coming togther nicely though all i need is help with the tps and it should SHOULD work out

as far as price goes it really isnt that expensive at all i got to know a guy at the local powersports store and one day he was carrying out a bin of itb setups for a few different bikes and i just asked him if i could take 2 of them for a project i had in mind and thus the itb 420a project was born

I have the same idea but i'm planning on running the same ITB's as what most honda users run: Sukzuki GSx-R 1000's. I plan on running it with megasquirt though. So I may be able to wire in the factory suzuki sensors abnd bypass some of my problems. The only problem I think I'm going to run into is fuel. Like you had mentioned, I plan on using the lower intake plenum and making either a couple of flange plates made and things welded together, that way it all shoots up out of the hood rather than back at the firewall. The stock suzuki TB's have a EFI system on them though, which makes me wonder if I should block off the suzuki injectors, that way my stock injector site is putting the fuel right at the intake ports rather than halfway up the plenum at the TB's. Then use the stock suzuki injector site for my NoS. I think a built 2.2 stroker, 150 shot, and some itb's would net me around 320-350 at the wheels (with proper tuning) If you ever make the ITB dream a reality for your car, post some pics. I plan on making it my upcoming winter project, so i won't have anything useful for a while.

As far as answers to your problem, I would take the tb's you have to a machine shop and see if you can have the end of them machined to fit our stock TPS. Check your butterfly valve diameter first, though, and go from there. If it's slightly larger than our stock one, you can probably have it ground down and holes drilled at the right diameter in the right spot to fit our tps, provided you have enough material to mount the sensor onto. However, if not, I would say you're kindof...well...screwed. At least with those TBs. Find some with a TPS and go from there. That was actually my deciding factor with the gixxer ones. OBDII ecu's have to have a TPS sensor for the fuel mapping. So there's my $.02 :dsm::laser::thumb:

looked into having the machining done then i wound up moving to flordia, so i have kind of put this on hold for a minute but you can tap the bottom part of the runners on the intake and put your injectors down there like the guys who set theres up to run 2 injector setups instead of one....

seeing this link this morning has made me want to finish this project again thanks for the ideas :thumb:
