hardly any boost

ok so i just got my 94 eagle talon. i traded my 96 mustang straight up for it. but i had great boost for a few days now its starting to get lower and lower everyday. this is a list of things the guy did to it -Lancer Evolution 3 16g Turbo
-Lancer Evolution 8 Pistons on 1G Rods-HKS 272 Cams-Stage 2 Zoom Clutch-450cc Fuel Injectors-Welbro 255 Fuel Pump-Apexi SAFC V2-Apexi Boost Guage-Manual Boost Controller. it was building between 24-28 for boost but now its having issues hardly getting to 6 or 7 lbs. i dont know that much about turbos or anything this is my second car with a turbo first car was a 86 300zx that was stock. there was a nut on the exhaust that wasnt on there so i put one on to fix the exhaust leak and now i have bad boost. that couldnt be the issue could it?
 
im not sure how do i actually tell what turbo is it cause i looked at it and it had a tdo5 stamped right on it. so does that mean its a t5. sorry i really am a newbie when it comes to turbo cars but ive been working on cars for 13 years. just no turbos

Secondly, like mentioned in post 1, there is no logic to running 26+psi on this turbo with stock injectors..It just can't be done..


Do a boost leak test, to find where your loosing boost pressure..First thing is first tho, do a visual inspection on your intercooler piping, to see if you can't spot the leak..
 
Ok thanks ill check that stuff out tomorrow. You guys wouldn't happen to know where I could find good bigger injectors and a bigger turbo. Also this apexi safc thing what does it actually do besides make me mad. It like resets every time I start the car or something it keeps changing to a 6 cylinder setting and what would happen if I took it out?

yes keep it, its tunes your fuel and air..


check for boost leaking from somewhere... that has to be it
wastegate spring or boost controller wouldnt even let it get that low
 
So I found a hose running from my bov to the intake that was split. That's all I have found for leaks. The numbers on my turbo are 78-11020. I didn't see these numbers on any of the other 16g turbos on that link any ideas what it is off of?
 
pretty sure that hose is what keeps pressure on your bov to keep it from opening. so if it was split would explain why you were losing so much in boost. but as stated def bump it down from 28 psi with ecm link my injector duty cycle on same 450 injectors tops out at 14 psi. anything higher you should start getting fuel cut. I would think.
 
sounds to me you have a lot of reading to do.... go the the tech page/ forums and READ READ READ.... not being a dick, im just saying theres a lot to learn

FIRST THING UOU NEED TO DO IS BUY v3
It's like 300 bones it will LITTERLY make your car run longer and pull harder
Then buy you some injectors 200 will get you 800's
 
v3 is like 500 unless you go with lite but I got mine back at the beginning of july and spent 540 with next day air. I figured if I was going to put out the money for link. I might as well get the full version, but it is def. worth it my car still isn't tuned waiting to get speed density but gives you so much more information into your car.
 
well everything i buy from now on is going to be dirt cheap since i got an account with a company for factory and performance parts. i spun a rod bearing so im guessing what ever happened broke really bad. im going to start buying everything new and gettin rid of this turbo i got full boost back right before it broke so i know it works. but not sure what its worth. the guy said he bought it off this website but hes to stupid to know whats going on.

I think what he is talking about is the recirc tube. Besides that the BOV should be closed under boost.

Second, it sounds like he needs to really do some homework on what kinda car he is dealing with. Not knowing how a turbo car operates and not knowing what an SAFC is or how to use it sounds like a recipe for disaster.
