More and more slowly over time I've noticed the shifting getting more notch from the inside of the car. No grinds from the tranny all from the shifter assembly. I thought it was just the normal DSM tranny until my friend suggested otherwise....

Now my car stalls when I try to start it (takes 3 times to get it going, don't know if this is related)
Changed the clutch fluid and bled the system
Installed a new SS clutch line
New Master Cyln. Installed 2 years ago (about 20k)
Slave looks beat to shit but doesn't look like it's leaking. It also only has one bolting point out of the two because the other "ear tab" where it bolts up to the tranny is broken off.

When I did the SS line and went to fill the system with new fluid I almost fell over.
There was no LIQUID in the cap. Just this murky looking black gunk.
So after all this my car is still shifting hard into all the gears.

On the up side my pedal is stiff as shit again (ACT 2600) :thumb:

do you think that missing bolt on the slave could have caused the unit to fail?
Just asking before I go and order a new one.

On a side note I will not install a longer slave rod or shim the pivot because it is only a band-aid for what the real problem is.

Thank you for any guidance or advice.

I'm betting the broken slave cylinder is the problem. It's probably flexing a lot when you push in the pedal and not disengaging the clutch all the way.

Agreed. With only 1 bolt holding the slave in place will cause the unbolted side to push itself away from the trans.

we will know for sure on thursday then thats when i will have time to install the part.

well after installing the new slave cyl, and nothing happening we think we found the problem.

every time i step on the clutch the slave pushed the clutch release fork over and i can here the "creaking sound" (like opeing up the front door to a haunted house)
that suggests the TOB

we also noticed that the clutch fork can move up and down about a 1/4 inch meaning that the pivot inside the bellhousing is worn out or the shop that put the clutch in used a smaller diameter bolt in the shafts place.

oh well i guess its TRE budget tranny time.

just wanted to say what it ended up being.

Clutch release fork

First it was bent, then it broke.
