These Hybrid FPGreen and FPRed turbos sacrificed efficiency in the name of compatibility while putting guys like Hill, Cokic, Blaha, Brown and others deep into the 10 and even 9 second region. These turbochargers retained the mass produced OEM turbine housing for ease of installation, but were packed with much larger TD06H turbine wheels to satisfy the ever increasing exhaust flow requirements of the high powered DSM. Hacked? Maybe- but they were freakin fast!

The TD06H is a much better turbine for a turbo of this size. And some of the newer Garrett turbines are ven better. 10cm housing or not, it still all has to get through the turbine.

Now that is a true statement. Also I may have incorrectly remembered Hahns times but I also see it is still faster than Curt Brown went on a Green plus N20 so my point is still proven. That is also on a shittier 420A motor vs a 4G63.

Curt didn't run nitrous when he ran in the 10s with the Green.

The turbo is a sound design and can make good power. It is inexpensive and it is easy to work with since there is no boost creep and it is internal gate. If you take your time and install it right it will work fine and not have any problems.

Also the records page doesnt specify use of N2O and I know Curt uses it so I doubt the Green record is without it.

No, Curt still doesn't use nitrous:

11 9.411 146.38 6.044 111.40 1.319 90 Eclipse GSX FP 3065 NO Curt Brown Forced Performance, BJ's, Shep Racing, 122 Perf.

The "NO" means no nitrous.

And I have yet to see a Super 20G or 16G make anything I would consider "good power."

>>"All of the housings were designed for cheap production, not performance."
>>"Mitsubishi turbos are by far the most ancient and outdated turbos on the market."
...and so is the performance ?
A 20 is still a solid performer even by todays standards tho, eh ?
Is the evoIII 16g bolt-on $550 complete, 'old junk' too ?

Didn't the 50trim, 60trim and 60-1 originate in diesel trucks ? Judging from their performance record, does it matter ?

>>"But, for the serious performance enthusiast, an external gate is almost always a must.

Seen lots of full wt. street buicks solidly in the 10s on internal gates. Some 2.3 fords too
when do you become "serious" ?

anyway, I personally couldn't care less about setting any records - dyno or track.... wouldn't be looking at a 20 then, huh.
I'd just like a turbo with that response and capabilites, but internal gate. I'm sure an 06 wheel in a 8cm will deliver.

I understand the kit sealing issues, but I'll make a t3 flange header.
On the 10cm/05 I do remember quite a few posts from 'owners' who really liked the turbo and posted very good results... Even those like dsm who went on to 'better' turbos still commended the s20g.... its all preference, eh. No reason to get worked up over it :) You'll still have a fast car and a reliable turbo

I guess I'll chime in since Tort is sick and hasn't been on his computer for days.

First, he's running an FP20g, not a BR20. Second, it's internally gated and controls boost perfectly (my design). Third, I've owned a Green and driven my car and Tort's back to back, both with similar mods at the time. His car spooled faster and pulled just as hard up top. Fourth, there was a 20g trapping 130+. His name is Shep, some of you may know him. ;)

I'm know I'm not referring to the Hahn S20G in question, just thought I'd share my experience with the subject of discussion.

this is the 4731095647 time this thing has been discussed about this turbo. i said my opinion and thats it. u take it or u dont. in the end my results with the turbo were fantastic. had i kept it longer im sure i could've got it to trap 120mph+, but i'll never know.
