Halos? What brand?

I wanted to put some halo projectors on my 97 talon and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to buy them excluding ebay (some bad history with them). I wanted to get black housing with possibly white halos (dont really like the blue ones). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I only have experience with the 97-99 "Eclipse" halo lights from ebay.

You obviously will be looking at the 95-96 models.

I ordered the 2 types of halos for 97-99 eclipses. Both dual projectors, but the difference between them is one just has the projectors out in the open of the headlight. Then the other is more enclosed.

Here is what I'm talking about

I've installed both and see both cars regularly.

As far as which style, it's up to personal taste.

Quality on both.. well I have nothing to complain about, they seem just fine.

Both come with orange bulbs for the corner lights.

Fitment were like OEM, had no problems, and the mounts are the same as oem.

NOW, here is a key factor, WIRING. The bottom picture style, was PLUG-AND-PLAY, they have the connector where you just plug in your OEM harness. Simple as that. The halos require it's own power source. That is your call, depending when you want them on.

The upper picture style, it is NOT plug and play, you have to connect the bare wire to the appropriate ones on the stock harness. Was not a fan, but it worked out. This was the first pair of Halos I installed so I thought they were all like this, so I did not complain then. The halos connect the same way as the bottom picture style, you need to connect it depending when you want them on. What I did with this is cut the connector of the OEM 95-96 light (we were doing 97-99 eclipse conversion), attach it to the wires on the new headlight, and bam.. factory style connection. Did this so I didn't have to hack the car side of the wiring.

Light output (stock bulbs) seemed fine. The owners did not mention anything as far as output. Can't say about the drivers in front of them though :)

No fogging or condensation so far.

Overall, both were great for the price. If you like the upper picture style, you need to do some extra wiring. They were both packaged very well, and does look fairly well built.

I know you'll be looking at the 95-96 lights, unless you are doing a conversion too, but those should be similar as these.

I agree, don't get that nasty blue halo, the white is subtle and when the headlights are on, they are not too noticeable. Also I like the black housing, they sell silver housing too, which looks weird and off, 95-96 lights are stock like that so they don't look too off, but if you've seen people who black out their stock 95-96 lights, it looks much better. Of course the 97-99s are stock black housing, so getting the silver housing looks nasty IMO.

Of course I run the OEM 97-99 lights on my 95 with conversion, but for those who want to save money, these are not a bad choice.

I really appreciate your detailed post. I like the bottom ones a lot better and having a oem harness helps a lot. I also think the bottom style is more OEM looking than the top ones where they have some gaudy looking turn lights. I would probably wire the halos to my side markers seeing as how I don't really need them. I'm going to try to find a pair of the bottom style somewhere other than ebay.

one more question - do all 2g talons use the same headlights? or do they change from 95-96 to 97-98 like the eclipse? If they don't change are they the same as 95-96 eclipse?

The thing that bugs me about the halos is that DSMs are the ONLY car those company's make lights for with ONE HALO PER SIDE!! I don't have halos on my car, but I never understood why they couldn't have two halos in there.

i also have the halos on my 95 eclipse, but i did the conversion, they said plug n play, but there was a little wiring to take off. i hade to use the old headlight wiring, but in the end they dont leak, fog or anything bad. i did have to reglue my rubber wether stripping but that was not hard. all in all there great lights for fittment and look.

I got my projectors from andysautosport.com they have a couple different brands to choose from. Mine turned out great i did the 97-99 style bumper conversion and needed the head lights from that year so i went with projectors.

looks to me like the only place that doesn't try to screw you on prices is ebay.
