Hello, I recently bought a Hahn Racecraft super 16g turbo upgrade kit for my 99 Eclipse GSX. I plan on installing it this weekend. I got pretty good mechanical abilities and tools. The question i have is how much tuning would have to be done? I got a S-AFC, palm pilot data logger, Boost guage and air fuel guage (not a wideband) I do not plan on exceeding 14-16 psi until i upgrade my fuel system. (yes i still have my stock system) what is a safe boost range for a stock fuel system? I am new to tuning and honestly I do not know how the SAFC works. Whats a good base/ starting point for the SAFC? any advice? any one in or near Kaiserslautern, Germany willing to help me tune it?

You're going to get the same response from everyone since its really hard to answer your question since every car is different and responds to different mods in different ways. First of all i would keep that turbo around your stock boost settings until you upgrade your fuel system. The only real way to figure out how much you can safely boost is to log your car. Unfortunately 2g loggers don't monitor knock so you're going to have to watch knock through your timing. Log a couple of WOT runs and watch your timing. If it gets pulled back richen it up at that rpm. If you need more help post your logs on the forum and i'm sure it'd be alot easier for us to tell you around which rpm needs to be richened up and if you have room for more boost.

alright. came across a new problem i notice that i am not building any boost. the BOV still releases when i rev the engine but there is no boost. I checked all the vacuum lines and they all seem to be fine. is it because it is a new and bigger turbo. also it idles funny. and codes pop up the indicate "cylinder misfire" here is what i logged today. check out my logg and give me some ideas

thanks

I just got off the phone with Aaron from Hahn Racecraft and i told him my problem with not building boost. he told me to unhook the BCS wastegate actuator and plug the lines because this is not needed since the Super 16g turbo comes with an adjustable internal wastegate. now is this right? i thought that the BCS is needed since i do not have an aftermarket boost controller. thanks

any one have any ideas? suggestions? I posted my log in hopes of some one helping me understand the datalogger and how to read it. How should i adjust my AFC and MAFT? thanks

Are you saying its not building boost under load. You wont beable to build boost when your idling unless you rev it to fuel cut.Check to make sure the wastegate actuator arm is hooked up,and not getting bound up.

your logs look horrible,Im not sure what exaclty is goin on.I dont know how to adjust a maft.I would get the turbo working correctly before you start tuning.there is not alot you can do with a maft and safc with stock injectors.

well i built my own boost tester and found a little boost leak on the BOV flange. would that cause my bad logs. I was told to set all dials on the MAFT to 0 for stock fuel system. I know i can't do much due to my stock fuel system but i just need it to run right for now till i get my fuel system upgraded

If you don't have a boost controller you should still be able to run the bcs, if its hooked up properly it will give you a couple extra psi over a straigh connection but if your wg is adjustable, then no you don't need it. Leave the bcs plugged in electrically, unplug the pressure lines & cap the ports off to keep the crap out. Next take a line from the pressure source (is there a barb on the comp cover?) and run it directly to the wg actuator & thats it. Just remember to pull the line off that did connect to the intake pipe and cap it off as well.

Why did you get a bigger turbo and not even have a boost controller?
That seems a little backwards to me.

Just go over everything and check it all out. Something obvious is probably right there under your nose..

well i wasn't planning on upgrading the turbo yet but I could not resist a good deal. 700 dollars shipped for a brand new turbo kit. so i decided to buy then upgrade my boost controller and fuel. I just purchased some EVO 8 injectors. will these work on my car? thanks

you now need a boost controller, and an S-AFC or DSMlink. Or a chipped ECU.

Good luck, and start reading.

I already got a S-AFC, I am going to get a bost controller soon, but first I still need to upgrade my FPR and fuel pump before i turn up the boost. Should i get a upgrade my fuel rail or is my stock rail enough?

Okay, So my car is idling kind of low. I checked for boost leaks and did not find any. I am running around 15psi of boost on stock injectors but i have a set of Evo VIII 550cc injectors. I do not have a AFPR yet. Is it okay to install them for now? will this help correct my idle? well please let me know ASAP. I do have a Pocket logger and posted my logs but I have not gotten any useful advice. right now my MAFT is all at zero and my AFC is +/- 0 all the way across. and my throttle settings are 30-80. please read my log and give me any adive. I will greatly appreciate it! thanks again

well i figured it out. the skunk2 cam gear mark were off by a tooth. so my timing was off. i got it corrected and it runs well now. I am waiting for my walbro 255lph pump, Aeromotive AFPR, and AEM wideband guage. thn i'll be set for now.
