I have been looking into intercoolers for a little while now and I think I have decided on the Hahn racecraft front mount, but I would love to hear from everybody here who is running one. I have searched and read a little but I know there are more then 2 people running these cores. Let me know your impressions and likes/dislikes. Thanx.

I run a Hahn front mount on my car, and i have never had a problem with heat soak, or anything of the sort...and thats with a gt35r running 30+psi. I do have a NX intercooler sprayer, but have yet to use it.....in my opion, its an awesome intercooler. :thumb:

I run one, and it definitely works extremely well. However, even with the "improved airflow design" that allows more airflow around the intercooler to the radiator, I'm still having overheating problems.

ill be runing one, its sittin in the box in my spare bedroom right now. it looks bad ass and the piping is great becuase its the short route, plus is powder coated black. if you get one man i dont think youll be dissapointed.

You may want to check www.2gnt.com , many of them run the hahn setup. Now this is a little off topic but whats up with the police wheel lock in your sig? :|

I'm using one with a EvoIII at 19psi. It has great fit and finish. The install went smoothly and I haven't heatsoaked it. This will be my first summer with it, so I'll have to get back to you about any overheating issues. I'll probably be getting an NX intercooler kit anyway though. But otherwise, I love it.

Ha ha, destruckeclipse, I used to be a MP in the Marines so I had fun one day. Now did anybody custom make their piping or did you all get the kit with the pipes?

I used the pipes Hahn provided. You will still need an UICP and a j-pipe for a 16g style turbo. It routes the pipes through the stock IC location, so if short route is your thing, this IC is not for you.

I run this intercooler and have ran it on a 14b (overkill yes i know) and on my current turbo (GT-30r) and have had absolutely zero issues with heatsoak. At the very most after back to back runs it will be warm *maybe* for 1/4-1/3 of the way across, but the latter 2/3 of it is always nice and cold. Install was a piece of cake. The only thing I don't like about it is that they give you stock route pipes. That's the only minor thing. All piping came with it (including couplers, the hose clamps they give you suck so buy some good ones). No cutting of anything needed to install it, just some time. You will have to hack the bumper a little bit to get it to fit back on, but that goes for any FMIC that you buy. Overall I'd rate this IC a 9-9.5 out of 10. Shipping was fast as hell from HRC and customer service was also great. I've never had any issues with overheating from it ever. :thumb: :thumb:

P.S. I couldn't resist putting a pic up of it :sneaky:

I run a Hahn FMIC on my 97TSI AWD. I am pretty happy with it although I am only running an evo 16G. I had my intercooler coated with blackbody emmitter at Swain, Hahn was willing to drop ship it directly to them after I did some paperwork saying it was ok. I run Eibach pros and there are some dings in the bottom of the IC where I have smacked stuff. No leaks yet (knock on wood). I have had no cooling issues what so ever, but it isn't all that warm here in Denver and I have a fluidyne radiator and FAL fans. I did make sure that I trimmed the bumper per their instructions so that the radiator would get more air. As mentioned above, the only thing that might not be good is that you have to use long route piping. Also you loose your stock foglights, but that is true for most FMIC.

Yeah, I trimmed the bumper based on their instructions, so I think I won't have a problem with the radiator. But I plan on doing a fluidyne someday anyway, in addtion to an n-ter cooler. The radiator was designed with the 2gb Ecl bumper in mind, so some us can keep our foglights. I have a Prokit too, and I've been extra careful and haven't scraped it yet. The long route piping doesn't bother me at all, I don't think that really makes a difference. Plus, if this is the same core that got Bill Hahn's RS-T into the 10's then it is good enough for me.

I'm assuming you meant to say "The intercooler". But that was my impression with the 2g eclipse, that we could keep the fogs. And also with two people already stating this, how low does the bottom of the core sit in relation to the front bumper?

Whoops, yeah I did mean intercooler. I'm not sure if 2ga's can keep their fogs. The core sits right at or even with the bumper cover - I'll try to get a pic of it.

This may be true for 2ga's or the talons, but with a 2gb you get to keep the stock fogs. If you look at my picture you can see why.

Here's a shot with the front bumper cover off, dunno if this will help. The core for me sits right about flush with the bottom of the bumper cover, having the rmdsm lip has pretty much saved me from rashing the bottom of the core, I just scrape the lip anymore.

I have the Hahn with all the pipes. I am overall very pleased with the intercooler (looks and performance). One note though which has not been mentioned. Hahn advertised their IC pipes as 2.25" diameter. When I got them, they were 2" ID at the beaded ends and 2.125 - 2.25" ID in the pipe. Must be press bent. I actually ported the beaded ends slightly to open them up. If I were to do it over again, I would get the Hahn IC and another vendors pipes.

damm i didnt notice that... I guess i was just excited that it was a FMIC :thumb:

Im plannin to pair it up with a 50 trim and i believe the outlet is 2inch so i think it should be ok for any turbo with an outlet of 2"

Da Dymer,

did you have to get a custom LICP to match it up to your GT35R??? or was the piping that came with HAHN able to mate? please let me know thanks... Im geting a 50 trim and i just want to make sure i have all the parts before i bolt that baby up

Yeh, I had to get a set of lower IC pipes to fit the gt35r......however, i still run the upper IC pipes from Hahn......I think I spent in the ballpark of 400 dollars to get the custom set made, mandrel bent, and installed. I have access to a great fabrication shop up here in North Eastern PA...the shop is performance fabrication.....i beleive their website is www.performancefabrication.com

i've been running a hahn for quite some time now... great intercooler.. 380 whp w/ a 50 trim at 22lbs, on 93 octane..

only problem that i had was w/ 1 of the lower pipes.. it was too long in my application, so it pushed out against the bumper (by the factory intercooler air inlet cutout). i ended up cutting off 1.5 inches to allow the pipes to line up correctly.. just double t-bolt clamped the end that i had cut off, as the beaded end was no longer there.. no other problems at all.. i recommend it....

I did the same, but im on stock turbo....

so FASTFWD, you were able to use Hahn's LICP... im getting the PTE50 or the garrett50TO4b
just worried if it would mate or not, but looks like it did...

are you using an elbow on the outlet if so pics? welded or coupler?

thx
