had to get new tires

I had to get new tires as I had a blow out and tread markers showing. I got four 215/55r/16 tires and my handling seems off. Should I go back and get 215/50r/16's instead? I know stock is 205/50/16. So is the tire too tall and rubbing a little? My car has stock suspension.

it should be off you went from a stock tire that had a sidewall of 4.4" to one that has 4.7" but it should not be that noticeable...sounds like you tires right now have alot of flex in the sidewall what kind did u get?and wut kind of tires did u have before? go to a decent performance tire to a econo tire will be a huge difference

Your best tire for going wider would be the 215/50/16 and the stock size is 205/55/16 not a the 50 series. like DSMSpyder99 said you made the side wall thicker so it will tend to roll or flex more and make it more sloppy of a ride and ride some smoother. Also like he had mantioned what tires did you get that will make a huge difference. Let us know.

I went to National tire and battery and got their house tires. Sigma regent touring. I wish I would have checked out tire rack and drove on the donut for a minute but the sloppiness seems to have subsided for now. The old tires were goodyears and the front set was smaller than the back at 215/50/16 and 215/55/16 on the back. I bought it this way so I should have done more homework.
