I just finished installing my lower intercooler pipe. When I was all done I forgot to plug in the MAF. I didn't do any driving, though. I then remembered and plugged in the MAF and noticed the Check Engine Light come up. I ignored it and took the car out for a test drive. I was driving in first gear and noticed I was only boosting 10psi and the car felt pretty slow. All of a sudden the car undergoes a huge boost spike up to 20psi. Right at this time I hear a pretty loud pop and the car just shuts down. It won't idle on it's own but I can manage to barely make it idle by tapping on the accelerator. Black smoke comes out of the exhaust.

I AM hoping I just blew the turbo and not the whole damned motor. Please help.

Sounds like you blew the LICP off or whatever pipe you were messing with, inspect pipes and find the one that blew off and tighten the hell out of the clamp. Reset the ECU to get rid of the CE light.

check all of your intercooler piping.. Do you have a logger or anything to pull the code that was thrown? as far as the initial 10 psi, it's hard to say, but I would definitely start looking at the i/c hoses and whatnot..
