Hi guys, I'm finishing up a pretty big rebuild and doing the brakes. The car has been through a good deal and when I started the process of replacing the front rotors, the bolts holding both brackets to the car just snapped off. No manner of easy outing would solve my problem, the bolt and the bracket had really become one with each other.

I got a new bracket at Autozone and the old guide pins would not go in. I got new guide pins and the brand new ones will not go in either. Both old and new pins slide right into the old bracket, but not the new one. This is the case for both brackets. I am fairly sure they are the right part, they're identical. This is the part in question.

The car is a 93 TSI FWD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have anything to get an accurate measurement of the size of the holes in the new and old brackets? You could take the new pins and go to autozone try them in another bracket. My bet is that the new one is from china and just not drilled out large enough.

The brake bracket your replacing is referred to as a torque plate in the Haynes manual. The awd and FWD are different sizes. The AWD requires a larger guide pin. Is it possible that the bracket you pulled off was swapped before you bought the car? I have one of each bracket here the serial number on the awd is 2323 and the serial number on the fwd is 2182. If you bought the fwd guide pins they should fit. I hope I was some help.
