I found a few threads on this but all of them went astray before answering the main question.

Here's the situation. Due to the rim size of my slicks, i have to run the smaller GS-T rotors and have the caliper be in roughly the same spot ( and i still had to grind some stuff) is there a way to upgrade calipers only to a dual pot setup like from a GS-X or any other companies? I don't want to run completely bigger brakes until i get in the high 11's and am forced to build a cage. Then I'll probably be done drag racing and just build the car more for show and throw some Baers or something nice on it all the way around.

So..any calipers that will fit in the same space as stockers on a gs-t and have more than one pot?

And just to repeat before some one chimes in before comprehending what i wrote and says it : I cannot use the rotors or other parts or my rims will not fit! I just need better calipers.

turboglenn - I have done some talking to Marti at VIP Garage before about this very thing and he was saying for my TSi (same as GS-T I would think) all I would need is the GSX calipers and brackets. This is also using OEM size rotors and nothing bigger. I am almost 100% positive that is all he said we would need to do this with. If you want to clarify with him, I say shoot him an PM on specifics. He will be more than happy to hook you up with the information you would need on this. I am looking at doing this as well in the summer after my series is over. I hope this helps.

If you are already having problems fitting the single piston Gst calipers than you will definately have a problem fitting the two piston Gsx calipers. I have done this swap about a dozen times just to give you an idea of where im coming from on this. When doing this swap you are also getting a rotor that is taller and pads that are larger. The rotors from the Gsx are 10.83" in height where as the Gst rotors are 10.08" in height. Since the rotors are taller on the Gsx brake setup that is going to make the caliper sit further out which means you would need even more clearance than you would need from the Gst brake setup. And beacuse the brackets locate the caliper further out they will always take up more space than the single piston calipers. So for what you are wanting to do just getting the Gsx calipers will not work for you.

Turboglenn.. Are you running Bogarts? They look great... I agree with the above, we did a swap on my buddies T and it was close with factory wheels.. To close IMO.

Well, AGAIN i'll state.. I DON'T WANT TO USE THE ROTORS IF I DON'T HAVE TO. I know they will not fit with the rotors and everything, that's why i was asking only about putting only the calipers on my car and keeping the stock GS-T rotors.

H8r, they're not bogarts, they are custom Center Line wheels, I used the main or center part where the lugs go through from a 65 mustang and had them weld 15'' wheels at the correct offset for the slicks, but i didn't get enough offset if you ask me. The thing is running 10x26'' slicks is that they are wide enough that they will barely rub the fenders on braking if i hit a bump in the shut down lane, but if i were to offset them any further in, I'd have to grind more of the brake caliper away. But if i move them any further out, i will have the fender hitting them every time I brake. I'm thinking about going back to 24'' slicks this season, If they do well, i might have the rims reworked for a few more millimeters of offset since they won't be so close to teh fender lip. And I'll be going with a different brand, going back to M&H, I wasn't happy with the mickey thompsons last time i raced the car..

Do you understand what I said? Im not being a dick. I just want to make sure you understood what I was saying. The reason I went into detail about all of that is because no matter what rotors you use the calipers are still going to protrude the same distance whether you use Gst rotors or Gsx rotors. The rotors dont determine where the caliper sits. The calipers and their brackets determine how far out they protrude. Its a simple concept. That means that the dual piston calipers will stick out further than the single piston calipers.

Sorry, i didn't understand that's what you were getting at. However would it be possible to mount the GSX calipers on the GST brackets keeping them tight into the rotor and tucked away from the wheel? I know it would have to be modified since the bolts are further apart on a GSX caliper, but i fab metal all the time and have a small but big enough mill and could make a nice custom mount on one end of the bracket. If i had one here to play with I'm sure it would be easier to say "yay or nay" on the possibilities, than trying to picture how to fab it from thoughts and descriptions.

thanks for the input either way.

Does anyone make a 2 pot caliper for the stock eclipse rotors? or has anyone tried some custom 2 pot willwoods and made their own mount? We put them on a lot of Alfa-Romeo track cars that run 14 and 15 inch rims and we were limited on space enough that we had to keep stock size rotors ( but they were aftermarket slotted and drilled)

I understood that but was told that on my 16" rims the GSX calipers and brackets will fit with no problem. If not, I may re-evaluate my rims and go to 17" rims. I have some 18" wheels but I do not want to use them for racing purposes. Most likely going to selling those off anyway. I will have to revisit the source and make 100% sure that this setup will work with my rims. Thanks for the info.

Contact Bogart wheels.. They do some great work.. They made me some wheels for my SS camaro.. Did not have to grind down the calipers... Ofcourse you prob. just want to keep rolling with what you have... I mean they work... It was just a suggestion, they do nice wheels. They have great talent for finding out exactly what is need for the application.

I asked a similar question in this thread (starting at post #13).

TSI boosted, they will fit under 16'' wheels. My drag slicks are 15''.

99Gst_racer, they are 15 x 10 i believe, i'll get exact measurements here soon for you. PM me if i forget.

A 15" wheel should clear the AWD caliper/rotor. It did on my car at least. What part of the wheel is making contact to the caliper and how much clearance is needed to help it fit?
