GST VS 96 GSR (my friend Brians car)

Ok right now i dont know if im happy or if im pissed. My friend brian came over to my house to tell me his friend with a Civic SI with I/E/H UDP, wants to run me, so im like sure, well we take it to this one road in Dale city VA. So anyways first run i eat him by 4-5 car legnths till he gives up. Second run i dk WTF happened but my damn Stock clutch is driving me nuts, my gear wouldnt shift into 2nd and he pulled 1 car on me, and it took nearly 3 seconds to get it in 2nd gear, and when it was all set and done i got like 1 car on him. Then Brian (with the GSR) gets next to me and he wants to run me. I was like ok fine knowing he would smoke me..but wait..with my stupid driver skills and F-ed Up POS Clutch..well what do you know. !st Gear even, 2nd gear dead even, 3rd gear dead dven, 4th gear wow he gets 1 car on me and the race ends with him beating me by 1 car. NOW here is my question, first let me give u an explanation, Brian is indeed a cool guy but very cocky friend of mine and he rubs it in whoever he beats, well should he be proud he beat a Stock GST when he has the following mods, I/E/H, Type R head, UDP, removed 2 of his backseats and i dont know if he has more than this done, and hes running on some Khumos. Should he be proud?? I mean he was giving me this strange look with excitement that he beat me. And i know hes prolly gonna brag about it and all. But i guess the point of this post was that im sick and tired of having no money to spend on mods, and sick and tired of this stock clutch that i have that is really giving me a god darn headache. And jeez, all this from a guy that is just in his second month of driving stick (me). Yeah um ok..so i lost. People just need to get over it and not make a big deal out of it. And i heard him once say hes beaten Eclipses with bigger turbos, yea um ok, pulling 1 car legnth on me makes me call it "BS". Gosh i wish i could just atleast get a freakin Turboback Exhaust so i could show him.

Yeah i am planning on it..and im saving up money on a turboback exhaust now..and after that his ass is MINE. GOD, if only i had done free mods on my car, or had one of the DSM Tuners members do it for me..i think it would have been better.

Please remember i have injen intake listed as a mod but have not put it on yet..only cause it was shipped to me damaged which i just found out a week ago when i was gettin ready to install it.

an aftermarket intake would certainly be helpful with that exhaust. But if the clutch is that bad, I'd get that fixed first.

I know with an intake and exhaust i will surely beat him. God, not alot of people are able to shut this kid up yet and i came close..but fell short. Most people he races are other integras, civics, vr6's, v6 & old GT mustangs. Although he did admit losing to a 16G GSX by like 4-5 cars. I am so dissapointed today, i am sure and i will mean it when i say this, if my clutch didnt act like such a b!tch..it would have been surprise surprise for him. I SHOULD HAVE DONE THE FREE MODS! During our race..i remember how he got that jump in 4th gear when he sealed the win..as some of yall know..just recently i bent my valves due to trying to shift to 4th but wouldnt and instead went in 2nd. Well this time we were dead even and when i tried to shift to 4th..it wouldnt go..and it took about 2 seconds before i could and he passed me and i could never get next to him after that.

Very dissapointed, somone honest to god around here in VA needs to come down here and race this kid and whip him!! Seriously..ANYONE??

yeah, you should definately get that clutch fixed, and when you get your car running good, do a little modding, and waste him.

Truthfully, i think all i need is a turboback exhaust and an intake so the engine can breath better. Im not bench racing or anything but look at it this way, he bought his GSR for like $9000 (got a hookup but usually i see them run for like $12000 or more), than he spent like $4000 in performance..maybe more maybe less..so thats like $13000 he has spent, and a GST usually runs for $6800-$8000, and all he could do is pull 1 car on me. God if i had any mods i would have made him feel like selling his car and buying a DSM. The dude spends all his days tuning his car..and then removing his backseats and etc, all these little weight reduction mods..and the fool could only pull 1 car on me while i spent most of my time in BED when i got my surgery..and i havnt even touched my hood yet. I blame my lack of driver skills, and my clutch for my loss today.

Think about it, a guy who has been driving stick for years against a guy who just started driving stick 2 months ago.=disadvantage for me..but i might get flamed from some of yall but this is very bad for me..i should have shut him up..first thing tommorow morning..im taking my moms credit card and buying me some parts! Than im racing him again..and this time it will be videorecorded so you all can see.

Have you had a new clutch put in your car anytime? When I had my 3000gt I had a new clutch put in and about 2 months after the install it started doing what you're talking about,having to wait to shift etc. turns out it was the master cylinder needed bleeding, also had some "mystery" fluid in the master cylinder! I don't know WTF it was but I had to end up getting a new ,master and slave cylinder which solved the problem.

Yeah bro i will try, however, MY DSM is giving me so much trouble, one thing after another, just when i get ready to f-king get some mods today i notice oil leaking from my turbo. The seal or something is broken, i will have to get another seal and hopefully my mechanic said hell only charge me very little. I AM SO DAMN PISSED!!!!! MY CAR WILL NEVER BE MODDED! Everytime i see some light at the end of a dark tunnel (recently spent $1400 on rebuilt head and timing belt), theres always another b!tch problem in the way. Now im without my car for a few more days :thumbdown :thumbdown

I don't know if I'm the only one, but those problems don't sound like symptoms of a dying clutch. When clutches go out, you get basically no throttle response and no acceleration. You are obviously accelerating normally, just having problems shifting. It sounds more like an air bubble in your clutch line or screwed up synchros. I may be wrong, but from what you have said, I don't think it's the clutch. I'd advise investigating the problem further before replacing the clutch because it could be in perfect condition.

My friend also has a 2000 GS-R (turbo charged now), but back when I was stock and he had the mods that your friend had we raced. We went from a roll and I walked him from 5-6 car lengths. Wasn't even close. We then went from a dead stop. We lined up, each of us got a good launch and I pulled 1 car on him in first, 1/2 car in second, and then stayed like that throughout the rest of the race (since 3rd gear is the gs-r's strongest gear).

So I just think you need a new clutch there guy
