So yesterday I started the car and everything was running fine, but I noticed a coolant leak, so I pulled the gst into my garage and turned off the the car. This is where my supid friend came in and opend the hot radiator cap and the hot radiator fluid spashed all over the engine bay. Well I had to clean everything off and wait for it to dry and refilled it with coolant. I started the car and it idled really bad and would bog at 3000rpm and all throughout the drive. So I put it back in my garage and let it dry over night. Then in the morning I started the car and it idled fine and drove fine for about 15 or 20 minutes until it started to do the same thing again!!! My guess is there is still some coolant somewhere and when the engine gets warm it evaportaes the coolant and it effects the engine in some sort of way... I need some help, info or any ideas what could be wrong??

Check out you'r plug bores, make sure you'r plug wires haven't arced throught the silicone insulation and check you'r coil to make sure isn't arcing either. deff. in you'r ignition bro, happend to me once when I washed my engine (never again) hope this helps. also, check you'r spark plugs and make sure the insulator isn't cracked. Best of luck

yea its probably ## TR powerunit by the coil pack...my buddy has a 91 talon tsi and he washed his engine and when that got wet he ruined it....it would be fine for a little bit until the motor would warm up real good then it would start missing and bogging

its hard to explain it was one of those shorter and smaller hoses underneather the main big one thats located on top..

Did you accidently rip a vaccum hose off along the way. Coolant in the engine bay will not cause a problem like this.

You drive your car in the rain? the engine gets wet. You must have accidently ruined a vaccum hose along the way.

I thought that too but iv been checking all my vacum hoses for the past day! i have no idea of what it could be.

so today i took the car out for a drive and it idled like crap and bogs really bad till i hit 3k then all of the sudden boost hits and it drive fine but when i stop or go below 3k it bogs and idles really bad. could it possiblly be the O2 sensor? any ideas would be helpful...

What does your boost gauge read at idle? Assuming you have an aftermarket gauge. You may have a vacuum leak.

Sounds like a maf problem to me. Maybe the coolant hurt the maf.

Yeah, but i would think it would throw a cel. Quick way to see if the maf is bad is unplug it and if the car runs the same with it unplugged, then you know the maf isn't doing anything.

darn little stupid things can make such a damper on these cars. Glad it was an easy fix
